So, faced with the fact that my bills were mounting, I was no longer eating each day, and I was going to have to give away my dog, I turned to escorting.
LeCanadian: You have really ramped up your image and branding with your new Shylatopia.com web site. What?s the strategy behind it?
Shyla Wild: When we first spoke about two years ago, I was just beginning to come into my own. I learnt a lot over the last two years. I became more confident with my appearance and my looks and it began to match the quality of my service. I always had found my image pre-breast surgery to be quite harsh. I needed to soften it up, and slowly redid my image. If you take care of your teeth, then you are a criminal for seeing a dentist. Meanwhile, the dentist should have the same rights as sex workers and not be able to advertise their services. Funny the hypocrisy that goes on. This new law should be classified as illegal and everyone involved in drafting it should be charged with a violation of the Canadian Bill of Rights Section 7: The right to life, liberty, and security of the person. They did nothing to protect Canadians and have done nothing more than reworded the old law. Our government has failed us again. I learned a valuable lesson concerning Canadian Politics from Bill C-36: The Conservative government does not protect our ways. Being Conservative means that you fear change and progress. This is not and never will be the type of government that should run a country and this government has FOREVER lost my vote. I now understand why there is no C conservative government in Quebec. Presently the government does nothing to stop prostitution. Unless human trafficking/exploitation is involved, or unless you are hooking on the street; the cops look away and cannot in general be bothered to waste taxpayers? money on arrests. We live in a country that is very much in debt, yet instead of looking at new sources of income to help with the tax burden in this country, they cut off one of the most profitable markets: Sex. Licensing sex would be one of the ways our government could not only control it, but also make some money from it. We need basically a work permit or business license for escorts. Just about any escort would pay this. Taxing incomes would also help the government. With licenses comes the fact that you can no longer work without paying income tax.
Prostitution has been around since the beginning and has been labeled ?The World?s Oldest Profession.? Isn?t time that we tax it instead of taking the ?moral? high road? Wasn?t alcohol illegal for the same moral reasons? What does this all really mean? It means the government is actually going to damage communities in Canada.
Why? Simple: All the efforts that the government and police have done over the years to clear hookers off the street will be for nothing. Without a place to advertise, less successful and girls starting their careers will have no choice but to return to the street. How will this affect me? Until the law passes, I have no idea. Shyla Wild: I model my career and my business after some of the top and best-run businesses in the world. I run a very tight ship. The vision I have for my image and for what I want is very precise. Those working with me have described me as difficult and a bitch. I am unrelenting once I develop a new marketing image and do everything I can to realize my vision. I am a very confident person, in both my career and my personal life. As such, my feeling regarding my career and how it has played out does nothing but bring a smile to my face. A Canadian law means nothing in a global sense as there are many other countries that I can travel to, and in the long run it is both Canadian taxpayers and the Canadian government that will suffer as others working the sex trade will do exactly what I do and work elsewhere; pulling money out of the Canadian system. Shyla Wild: I model my career and my business after some of the top and best-run businesses in the world. I run a very tight ship. The vision I have for my image and for what I want is very precise. LeCanadian: What can a client reasonably expect ? and not expect ? from an escort such as yourself?
Shyla Wild: Professionalism would be the first thing that comes to mind. Before any fun takes place, all safeguards need to be in place. Safe sex is not optional; it is a requirement. As such, I am very strict with unsafe requests. Moreover, these types of requests are instantly terminated and blocked. I have no need or desire to subject myself to possible infection or illness. As such, my need and desire to help has not diminished, but has become more focused. Transgendered people are coming to a period of time when our rights are being addressed. Groundwork is going to be laid over the next 20 years that will set the legal standard in our community for years to come. This will be similar to the women?s right to vote and African- American rights? movements. I want to be a part of this to ensure that these laws are properly addressed and applied to protect and help people that cannot protect themselves.
