I could totally see this, I mean it wouldn't be the strangest thing that has happened, although it would be close! And not from the point of view that an individual is transitioning alone, but that this individual is doing so at this point in life, and on 'reality' TV. Is anything real anymore? Am I real? Oh my God! LOL! I had thought for years that he had already transitioned and just not realized it. In any event, I wish him the best, and I will be following this very closely.

Actually is seems to me that more older people are transitioning than younger.
So many baby boomers are making the choice in their 40's and 50's.
I think there many reasons too.
At the older age maybe one part of their life has come to an end, marriage, parenthood, so they feel less responsible to maintain whatever facade they had. Possibly your parents passing away would make you feel more free to do transition without upsetting the family. Then in some cases is it just a kink that they feel free to pursue later in life. Often morals and bad feelings soften as you age, so something you would never consider doing when you are 20 you say "why not" when you are older.
Last i think some mistake the loss of male hormones as they age to be a sign they should transition, which is not really a good reason.

I truly think the internet has opened the eyes to many people regarding transexuals and shemales. I know myself, if it wasn't for the internet I prob would never of discovered my attraction to t-girls. Im sure in the 1970's who even knew about transitioning (although it was happening of course) I think allot of people are transitioning at later ages today because of everything they are seeing online, including all information there is available out there...

When I got the internet (1999) the first tgirl I found myself attracted to was a dark skinned girl from toronto named Victoria, shes still around too, and I think she owned this board at one time (correct me if Im wrong) Thinking back on it, it was weird that I never even considered or thought there could be more girls like her around. For quite a long time she was literally the only tgirl I knew existed. I was quite naive. I didnt start discovering other girls (locally) untill around 2006. What I find complete bs and kind of throws me off about people talking about that is that if Bruce really was transitioning as some of you believe then why are you using male pro nouns? It is a big joke based on how it has gone so far and his past record.
If he is doing this 100% in the public eye and for profit, then he is open to full criticism.
