Re: Racist Calgary
The whole city has a cowboys and indians theme, including The Calgary Stampede.
Well most of the clubs in Calgary tend to be redneck Cowboy establishments.
Cowboys, Roadhouse,Tequila,The Whisky, etc.
I am white and 2 of my fellow gringos and I where refused entrance into Cowboys because we either needed boots
or dress shoes but not running shoes, which we all had. After we slipped the bouncer $30 we suddenly were let in and everyone inside had running shoes. The are tough there, Calgary is the only place they ask everyone for ID no matter how old they look, except for Detroit.
I am not arguing that Calgary is more racist in some ways but in that city you have to pay people to get into these clubs. The bars are larger than you see in most cities and they are big business, They do all want the beautiful people of all races because I see them in the clubs.
No one knows who the white guys are that got in or if they had already tipped, but Calgary is like that especially Cowboys. I saw that report on the news about 3 years ago.
The other thing is Calgary resembles Texas in many ways and you see the same redneck attitudes down there.
Cowboys and Oilmen, and definitely less women than men, its a DRINKIN' town.
The population is now 1.2 million, yet there is really only one Gay bar (if you don't count the Eagles club)
But on the other hand, Calgary has the 3 highest Asian population in Canada, but there is also and asian gang problem there too.
