  • Is declaring yourself Agendered really a thing?

So now I see Miley Cyrus's new partner is declaring themselves agendered?
They say they are just themselves they are not any gender.
    Is this even possible?

Like to me this could only be someone who is born with no sex organs, no hormones, non-working glands and part of their brain missing. Not someone with a beard wearing a dress that most likely has sex with people. Live as you will, but don't make whacked out claims.
Gender is inseparable from sex pretty much.

I think if you have to give yourself a label you are not JUST BEING YOURSELF.
To say you don't specifically identify with any gender is one thing but so say you have none is just some kind of hipster wet dream.

    What do you think?

In this case I believe it is simply for the attention; assigning some newly created "label" to themselves. The need to make a label is not them being themselves, just pandering for the cameras.

      Been there, done that . . .

Ah the 're-invention' gimmick! I have seen this once or twice before among the celebrity crowd. Once or twice. LMAO! That is all the attention this deserves. The only time I want to hear about Miley Cyrus, is if they discover a dick! LOL!
The pain in so many asses.

While I do agree the Cyrus likely is doing this to advance her career, this should take nothing away from people who would like to use this label to describe themselves.

Many youth go through experimentation and self doubt, so this may provide a comfort zone for many who are unclear as to what to identify with/as.

I don't know anything about this specific context, but it could be applicable to people who just don't particularly care, and see themselves as nothing gender-wise regardless of their physical appearance. Usually it's for attention or based off an identity crisis, but I can definitely see it being a thing for a very, very small minority.

That is the part I have issue with.

If you want to live the way you want, and the way you are, why do you have to put a label on yourself.
Just the fact this person labels themselves tells me they are just a hipster dufus.

The only agendered entities i know of are inanimate objects, like rocks and cement piles.
Except in some languages rocks do have a gender.

Anyway if you they just want to be themselves why not just call themselves Tyler Ford.

"Aagender is genderless or having no gender," Tyler said. "It's pretty simple. I don't identify with a gender. I think I am who I am. I'm a person and that's enough ... It's not an uncommon thing, it's just something that hasn't been addressed in the media until as of late, but I'm definitely not the only one."
            http://www.etonline.com/news/166362_miley_cyrus_met_her_amfar_agender_date_tyle r_ford_through_ariana_grande/

So now everyone will come out as agendered too?
Unless there is funding for people of a certain label, why do it?
Now it is not just themselves they are the face of the agender community.

So now it is the LGBTQA community.
Can't we just add an S for straight and a B for Bi and we cover everyone, no one is excluded or segregated?

            The LGBTQABS community.

              Crag has it right!

Tyler or Miley may say they do not consider gender but how do they explain what happens when they get “together“? Are they asexual then?

No matter what they can not ever become asexual or agendered! We know that every person on earth (even Tyler) has a chromosomal makeup of 23 paired chromosomes of which the 23rd pair, in Tylers case, has two dissimilar genes an X and a Y which, by their very presence determine his gender and that he is all MALE. Of course Miley born with an XX combination is by definition FEMALE.

There’s no doubt about it, Miley and friend are as female and male as everyone else! To say they don't think about gender is ludicrous.

Umm.. the female can reproduce without a male and ergo can be asexual..

A male can not reproduce asexually.. he can however masturbate which is what this little pantyboi probably does..

Asexuality is primarily seen as the lack of sexual desire.
                    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asexuality

There is asexual reproduction but you must be a fungus, plant, single celled organism or a hermaphrodite to successfully reproduce asexually.
                    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asexual_reproduction

Female humans cannot reproduce without male sperm period.
Sure medically or with a turkey baster they can do it, but they still need the male sperm.

Humans are do not reproduce asexually except in the rare cases of fully functional hermaphrodites that impregnate themselves.
(Even then it is not technically asexual reproduction)

No human female can reproduce with out sperm from the male and that process is known scientifically as “Sexual Reproduction”.

It matters not whether the insemination of sperm was done personally during coitus, with surrogate, via in-vitro process or a turkey baster.

I guess you're not familiar with cloning and genetic manipulation..

Sperm is not required.. only an egg and a live cell from the female..

The "male" or sperm is not required.. this goes with any species that reproduce via egg systems..

Soon we won't even need humans to make humans.. robots will do it for us..

                          Personally I'm more omni-sexual..

Unfortunately all your ?new things? will be 100% female because without those Y chromosomes from the sperm there can be no male characteristics in any of those manufactured beings, whatever they might be, (they won?t really be human)!

Yikes!! OMG, you seem to be suggesting that we're capable of ordering up new ?built to spec? things but they are going to be all of the female type, OMG!

So you're saying women aren't humans?

LOL.. Cloning and genetic manipulation.. in a lab they can easily manipulate the genes in an embryo to change the sex from male to female.. But this isn't really required as the "male" factor is irrelevant and not required.. Only the eggs are required.. In fact the eggs don't even need to be human, they only need to be mammalian.. Eventually humans will be able to reproduce outside of the female body in more of an industrial process..

The near evolution of the human species may likely be a-sexual beings that are a mixture of genetically modified human and machine..

Within time we will see sex move to a virtual reality world where the wildest sexual fantasies beyond your dreams can be as real as your thoughts.. Humans are evolving into computer based beings and merging with machines.. Once human reproduction is done outside the human body it will be hard to say how human sexuality would be defined..
