Yes but...
Well said and although I somewhat agree with your analogy you simply cannot compare manufactured products or business to the business of human bodies or parts thereof.
The difference, human emotions. As you said if someone ranted about another manufacturer you and many of your business friends would never buy their products.
Put yourself in the position of manufacturer. What would you do if "you" were a manufacturer and a competitor ranted negatively about "your" products?
However controlled you may be you must protect your business, your products. Therefore you must come up with a way to show that your products are the best. You must counter. The best way may not be to attack the attacker but you must defend your product if you're in a room full of potential buyers.
You and I, we're the salespeople, potential buyers, potential clients. We're the paycheck. As a salesperson and client we can decide who's product to buy...and what not to buy. We can influence others on who's products to buy and who's not to buy. If you simply sit and watch while your product is being trashed, do nothing about it...you'll be eaten up and they'll spit out the bones!
In essence these girls are their own manufacturers. Their products are their bodies, their products are themselves.
Yes, the reaction as we have seen may scare a few potentials away. But without some kind of counter defence...the competition may scare a whole lot more away. Commercialism...Pepsi vs Coke, butter vs margarine, tide vs any other brand, The Donald vs The Rest (The Donald is leading)
If it's negative...defend business and your product. If it's amazing...simply say "thank you!"
