  • Still money to be made in porn?

I hear the margins are very thin because it has become ubiquitous.

Thinking in terms of production or hosting a site(s).

Not related to porn but to the sex industry. I dated a wonderful female escort who wanted to open an escort agency with me but i chickened out and I was having too much fun partying on the weekends.

Would like an opportunity to make money in the sex industry again.

Starting a porn site from scratch these days is pretty hard.
Making DVDs is almost not worth it at all, even the major player there are struggling.

To compete with the many older sites you need to have a reasonable amount of content like they do.
The older players always have the advantage of being ingrained.
There is a million escort sites out there but there is only a handful that are used regularly.

Traditional internet porn is not as profitable as it was 10 years ago.
Sites that only offer Pictures and video with no real time interaction are only marginally profitable.
Real time interaction and functionality are required to prosper as well as continued content production.

Other than starting your own enterprise or site, there is plenty of work in porn.
I'm always looking for web developers, producers and models.
Other companies out there are looking for the same.

Still to be a producer (video & photo) is more crowded than it used to be.
In the early days of the internet quality was not afforded or expected, but now it is mostly production quality.
No longer will anyone buy fuzzy pics of a tgirl with no erection.

What web development skills are needed? Graphic Artist type skills or more computer programming type skills ava, ASP.net). Do you need a portfolio from someone?

To shoot quality video, is it necessary to be a trained professional or could a reasonably intelligent person whos a quick study pick up with a bit of practice?

I need web designers who can do graphic designs with photoshop or corel, possibly html and css.
Developers is html, css, php, mysql, javascript, perl, Linux, apache.

Many people can be good photographers and videographers with practice.
Certain people just can't do it no matter how hard they try.
If you have an interest in the subject matter is usually helps.

Portfolios are fine but normally I would give someone a couple small tasks to begin with and see how it turns out.

i'm thinking of starting a site and have a rough plan. For models, well for TS....be hot, passable, and have a big dick. seems simple, but in reality it is. Look at the top TS models now and from the past, Mia Isabella, Foxxy, Vanity, Venus Lux, to name a few all fit that bill. of course it depends on the niche, since amatuer porn is more real/homely and 10/10 or even 8 or 9/10 looks aren't required off the bat.

i'm learning how to be a systems admin too, since porn needs a shitload of server space. i can kind of web design/program, but due to having plenty of content, server space is a top priority. designing and coding a site is not so difficult. i'm a digital marketer too, which is my main job, so the social media/content side is a breeze. most porn makes money from affiliates and pay per click anyhow, and display ads.

As Crag correctly stated, the key resource is....Content. As a producer you can burn through all your operational cost (web cost, location, salaries) and it all doesn't matter if you are not turning out constant content.

It would be hard to monetize anything, especially considering the vast amount of free content already available (xhamster anyone?).

I'm more open to producing live content/events as a producer as I think there's a greater ROI on my investment. It's more exclusive, unique, and harder to recreate (or steal).
