Maybe it's just because the ones that don't escort simply live their own life and unless you know her you'll never know.
A good friend of mine in Montreal does not and never did escort and she doesn't hang out at the TS bars either so ...

Interesting point you make that they may not be able to find jobs in mainstream society, something I never thought about. What do you think the root xcause behind that is? Appearance, attitude, ignorance towards shemales?

I think it's because the discrimination faced in regular everyday jobs. It can be hard to find a decent paying job, when people just stare at you and talk about you behind your back! Some may even look at you as a leper. Escort work can pay well and that is the weapon transsexuals have. They can use that power, because they know how many men, straight, gay or bi, secretly desire them! I know I do! They get into this kind of work and boom, men from all over love you ! They are more socially accepted doing this ( as strange or bad as it may sound).

I thought there are labour laws against in large organizations for those who do not hire individuals with disabilities, gay/lesbian peoples or transgendered peoples. Maybe I am way off the mark here though, because I am sure that in many companies corporate philosophies they a quote to satisfy and if they don't meet that quote they can be sued for discrimination. Just though I would throw this out there.

I just can't see myself working at a regular normal low paying job.. fuckk that! When I was 18yrs. old -21yrs. I was working as a phone sex operator making $11.00/an hr. & I was facing discrimination at the work place everyday. They would always complain that my outfits were too revealing.. ect. Now I make $11 in 5 mins online stripping, lol. I think the reason why most transsexuals are escorts, cause its BIG MONEY for a small amount of time.

Then they have the whole day for themselves to have fun & do whatever they want. I also think its because being a hooker, u can afford many plastic surgeries to transform yourself into male to female, & buy many expensive materialistic things,, wigs, makeup, clothing, high heels, earings.. ect.
I don't know... my personally, if i wanted to be a house wife i'd get a normal job, but i find that too boring! I think most shemales look like strippers, the majority of them look like that. Maybe thats why straight men are attracted to them!

I would have though the escort life exacts a pretty heavy toll on any gender -- eroding the soul one trick at a time. That must get old pretty damn quick.
