Receiving is a death sentence, giving is not. The odds are orders of magnitude bigger for being the catcher.

I've done it but only when in a monogamous relationship after HIV/STD testing. Even then you need to take lots of precautions to avoid infections, hepatitis and general discomfort. I would NEVER do it with someone outside of a monogamous relationship.

It is not necessarily just an open wound that you need to be concerned about, but e.g., a small abrasion of some kind that has roughed up the skin may have destroyed the normal bodily defenses, as could a forceful entry, which may have slightly torn the penis, especially around the frenulum which can be severely stretched in such an activity. Such minute openings are likely to be without discomfort and so will likely go un-noticed. These kinds of inidents would fall into the same well publicized category as not flossing your teeth before giving bbbj.
