It is best to exchange cash there you will get the best rate.
All hotel rooms have a safe.

Personally i might take some cash and exchange when I get there, like $1000 or something.
There is no advantage to trying to spend Canadian money, nobody wants it unless it is free.
Nobody really wants anything but Thai baht.

Mostly i leave my money in the bank and make sure that i have multiple bank cards, there is bank machines absolutely everywhere in Thailand.
That way if one card doesn't work you can transfer you money to your other account or have money in both.
Good to have a credit card or two for backup but most places other than hotels won't take them, just good for backup cash.
The other reason to have several cards is some of the bank machines can be finicky and not like certain cards.

Most banks however, have a $10 international withdrawl fee, plus $3 to the ATM fee.
So if you withdraw usually take out the limit of 30,000 baht and put some in your safe to save fees.
I don't think credit cards have the international fee when you with draw cash from a machine.
The exchange rates at the ATMs is quite good.

I got pretty careless when very drunk on a couple of occasions. I never got topped in Thailand ever, but I did get some minor STI's on two different occasions and it certainly was unpleasant.

That's actually not the case that Thai weed is bad. If you get the good stuff it might be better than Canada, Thailand has been doing it a lot longer than us.
Part of the reason Thailand legalized medical and research marijuana is so they could grow weed and sell it to Canada and other countries that are legalizing it.
The thought is that Thailand can grow better weed than Canada for much cheaper price because they can grow it all outdoors, plus their plants are many many generations old going back hundreds or even thousands of years.

They are probably selling your shake or worse. Good weed in Thailand should come in a compressed block.
The traditional Thai Stick has red threads in it that they use to tie up the buds when they harvest it in some regions.
In the old days they used to tie it to a stick with the thread and sell them to American GIs.

I've only got the red thread stuff twice and it is very good but not the best.
There is stuff i've gotten that was better and possibly better than Canada.
The body stone with good Thai weed is far better than anything we have.

You should be getting a square block of compressed buds. I think it is about half an ounce but I have never weighed one.
I have paid 500 baht for one ($20), but usually it is 1000 baht for one block.

I went with friends and they asked the guys handing out flyers on Walking Street. So most likely we got hustled. I don't remember the exact price they paid as I didn't want to get involved with the transaction as the last thing I wanted to do was get in trouble in Thailand. Weed is illegal in Thailand. They have recently approved medical cannabis for research purposes only.
So a medical certificate from Canada is useless and you cannot get one in Thailand. There is zero dispensaries.

Weed can be found and is not such a big deal for Thai people to have it but for a tourist to get caught with it you will be paying a very large fine (bribe) most likely.
If you keep it to your balcony or whatever you should be fine but even though it is laid back there, people will call the cops on you more that you would expect.
If your hotel actually called the cops then you might not be able to bribe your way out.
Remember many police are looking for tourists to shake down for money. There has been reports of random urine testing in red light areas of Bangkok.
Also clubs are raided by police from time to time and everyone is tested in these cases, i have never heard of a ladyboy bar being raided but don't be in any bar with it.
That being said i know they don't test for weed, usually. They are more worried about ice, yaba, opiates and coke.

Bangkok would be tough and no one has ever offered me weed anywhere and i wouldn't buy from anyone on the street offering any kind of drug.

For prostitutes it can be tricky. There’s several variables. Freelance street LBs are the cheapest, but you may pay a room fee. In bars there’s a barfine you pay first to the bar, then negotiate your price with the girl. There’s usually a ladyboy in ever massage parlour. Also depending on length of stay you will need correct visa do not use a service for this . Either go to or email embassy nearest you, or if you are in country already immigration office . I have found them to be friendly and why pay someone else to drive you to them and provide a form you can get yourself for free.
