I am enjoying the NHL this season..... the games has gotten so fast and very skilled. Hope your Habs get out of their slump soon. My Hawks aren't doing very well either but the games are really fun to watch.
Should be a good game against Boston tonight

How about we get back to hockey and not hockey politics.
Great shutout win by the Hawks last night to a stingy Dallas team.
Habs? Wow. I hear Babcock is looking for a job but your team only hires French coaches. I'd say that's part of the problem since there are only three to choose from and they've gone through all three and are now on the second round of Julien.

Cherry has said way worse and didn’t get fired. Listen, in the end people can pick whatever side they want to play on the Cherry story. But here is the reality; he was a borderline AHL type Player, never won anything as a coach and in fact....is best know for not being able to count to 5. Never won a cup and is not in the Hall of Fame. So in the end....who cares what he thinks or says. So if he thinks women shouldn’t be in a locker room, or Russians and Europeans are taking Canadian jobs....and that French Canadians are chicken shit...who cares? We are all allowed to have our opinion. You want to know why this happened?
1a- NHL TV rights In 2011 nhl signs a 10 year 2 Billion dollar deal. That expires in 2021. This is also one of the reasons the NHL and NHLPA did not reopen the CBA and risk a work stoppage as it could harm the image of the game.
1b- The Canadian version of the TV rights were bought by Rogers in 2014 for 5.232billion over 12 years. CBC no longer was the owner of hockey night in Canada and Budweiser stepped in to sponsor coach’s corner.
2- When Don Cherry was speaking his mind, what he said never really targeted Leafs nation directly. His targets were far enough from the reach of what the leafs did or do....but this time he said Mississauga.
Personally, like I previously said Mr Don Cherry has said worse. But I think this time he struck a chord with both fans of Leaf Nation who live in Sauga as well as Rogers (who owns sportsnet aka Leaf TV) and Budweiser who is the sponsor of Coaches Corner. He is an 85 year old man and he is not going to change. I enjoyed coaches corner but almost took it with a grain of salt kinda like a Drag Show....because just like in a Drag Show something crazy could happen at any point and you just had to kind of shrug it off. There were times I thought Cherry was a smart hockey man....and other times I felt he was a fucking idiot. No one is right all the time and even a broken clock is right twice a day.
Don Cherry’s greatest moment as remembered by Habs Fans:
As for the State of hockey, I predicted McDavid would get 150pts this year and that The Leafs would miss the playoffs. Hockey is a funny sport. You can pick any team, and on any given year they are going to finish anywhere between 5-25.
My Habs could win the division or they could be drafting top 5....same can be said for almost any team. But when the playoffs start, it’s not hard to pick winners. Small, skilled, fast teams that lack size, strength and grit.....won’t win. The NHL refs don’t call certain penalties in the playoffs. This will benefit teams built for playoffs hockey....look at Boston, St Louis, Washington, San Jose.... These are teams built for playoff hockey. Teams like Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver, Tampa Bay are not. They are going to get run over.
Winnipeg was probably the team with the best shot....but that was the previous two years. They lost a lot on that backend. That edmonton duo is scary but the rest of the team....not so much.
PS: My sources in Montreal tell me Lambert is still celebrating that goal...Shyla Wild

Ugh, you have a big pile of shit going on in Calgary. I understand that Peters is done. Honestly, it was the only outcome in this situation. Anytime you have racism or the #metoo movement, you'll lose regardless of the truth. But in this case, it looks like the truth based on statements from others.
Habs need a new coach! The players have tuned him out. The biggest problem with the habs is the need to have a French coach to appease the media or it's simply French arrogance. Your guess is as good as mine. Maybe Shyla can shed some light. If that's the case, Guy "Scarface" Boucher is available, but I still don't think he'd be the answer. He's been known to provide some initial relief only to have the players tune him out after a season. I think you need to step outside the box and hire a big-name coach, regardless of the language he speaks. And Price is playing like shit regardless of the 'big save' he made last night. He should have stopped three of those goals. Great goaltenders steal wins for you and Price has done that often but not lately. He's allowed eleven goals on the last 45 shots. All players need to step it up or a coach is gone, which should happen regardless.
Off topic, PK Subban is still a non-producing, $9 million waste of space. Always has been overrated and now he's proving it more each game.

Right now, that could be said for just about any team. Twenty-six of the 31 teams are .500 or better right now, which is something I've never seen before. In other words, things are that tight and the standings can shift drastically over one night. Before yesterday the Leafs were 14th overall. They lose a game and they drop to 19th. That's how competitive things are this year. Right now, to center out two teams as not making the playoffs is a bold statement
