We have seen here a portion of the provider community actively posting their STI testing results. A Thank You to them.
Posting STI testing results gives current and potential clients an assurance that time spent with them has little to no risk of STI transmission. More importantly (to me), it shows that they respect themselves, their health and take this business seriously. There are those providers who also get tested regularly and do not publicly post their results, but rather make them available for clients to see on request. Whether the results are publicly or privately available, it of course does not condone or even vaguely imply that their practices with clients are in any way unsafe.
I have seen in these forums unfounded accusations of providers having STI's. Without proof positive evidence, these accusations are often just that, and at times, are an effort to smear the reputation of a provider.
There is also the other side of the coin. While clients ask, and at times demand to see STI testing results of providers, there is I would bet, little to no reciprocation - clients are not providing their own STI results to the providers. Funny and I would say, hypocritical thing that is.
STI testing is free, non-judgemental, and completely confidential. Your family physician need not be in the loop that you got tested. At least in Toronto, there are quite a number of public health clinics for this type of service. I myself, being on Prep to minimize my risks, get tested every 3 months. And again, this is not because of any unsafe practices, but for my own peace of mind and for the peace of mind of any provider I might chose to see..
I would hope that out of respect, adoration and love of the Transgender provider community that more clients get tested to provide that same peace of mind that clients often expect.
