That is a pretty unfair comparison.
Never in my life has a drug dealer contacted me out of the blue.
Unless I told them to contact me when they get some new stuff.
They have also not pulled a "Cassie".

It would be more fair to ask if most businesses legitimately care about their customers.
They do care about good customers but in the end you are just numbers on their income statement.
Do you really like your boss or do you just put up with him to get a pay check? Business is full of false empathy.

Depending how close some providers are with their customers, it may not be unusual to send a polite message.
Although this is not the usual method in this industry but small businesses in general tend to be pretty friendly this way.

That?s not true it depends of the intensity of connection.
