    Obama likes transsexuals

I found this a little interesting and would like to see what others think about it, so feel free to discuss by simply clicking on the comment link below this post.

I?m running for President to build an America that lives up to our founding promise of equality for all ? a promise that extends to our gay brothers and sisters. It?s wrong to have millions of Americans living as second-class citizens in this nation. And I ask for your support in this election so that together we can bring about real change for all LGBT Americans, Continues Here...

    Canada needs Obama too!

I was always in favour of Obama before, but after reading that speech of his in full, I am now even more in supportive of his candidacy.

Fundamentalist religious nuts, including George Dubya of course, have unduly influenced politics in the U.S. They need to be prevented from using that political influence to enact laws that, among other things,

refuse the populace the choice of choosing to freely live whatever lifestyle they might prefer to follow.

What a change that would make in the US and hopefully then, any such changes there would trickle northwards across the border.

      Toabn, my friend,
I think this nation of ours already leads the US by a long mile in LGBT equality issues, sex trade, and gay marriage. Still more strides to be taken, but in the mean time hopefully we can trickle down to them a little....

        Trickle, trickle

Agreed Batman, trickles should run both ways but trickles do not run uphill as we all learned by playing in mud-puddles in our youth. If Medicare is an example of a good idea trickling South, it does not work at all well in that direction.

Now, if Obama can enlist the party's endorsement of that issue it could begin to happen. If the US government were to go all out in an effort to make those changes, with as much energy as it now does in opposing those issues, then the change could be tremendous.

Here, we can see that our gov't does not have nearly enough determination (guts) to make the necessary changes nor to oppose those who want no change in the status quo.
Can you see Steven Harper or the party saying "These changes will occur" - and then you will have like it or lump it. No, of course not!

So instead we in Canada seem to enjoy spending months/years and millions, studying issues and watering down original decisions until they die, just to appease tiny minority groups rather than insisting that our government provide for the desires of the majority, as we elected them to do.

Geez, now I have depressed myself cuuz it's like

Obama has always been an advocate of civil rights and his positions don't change to suit the latest polling data.
