Philippines is completely different than Thailand. Yes there is lots and lots of ladyboys in Philippines.
The problem is the country itself is far more dangerous than Thailand. Foreigners and particularly white people are target for theft or kidnapping.
As far as I understand police in Philippines are far worse than Thailand.
Thailand you can show up by yourself and not have issues. In Philippines you are best to know someone or have a contact to help you out at first.

Philippines is not dangerous. I’ve been there several times. And, what exactly are you talking about? Thailand isn’t as scammy? C’mon now. Filipinos are also very accepting of gays. Filipinos are very nice people in general.

I'm not talking about small scams, Thailand is full of minor scams.
it is well known that Philippines is more dangerous to visit than Thailand.
I said more dangerous, not extremely dangerous like the USA or Venezuela or Brazil.
Thailand is more filtered for your protection.

Kidnappings of white tourists and business men in PI was very prominent for a while.
If you go places like Angeles City, it is more dangerous, than say, Pattaya.
In my experience the tgirls from PI are more trying to scam you online compared to Thais.
There is more terrorism and unrest generally.

Prostitution isn't as well tolerated as Thailand.

Thailand is way different, I agree. Philippines has a lot more poverty it seems. Thailand is far better setup for tourism by miles. However, Philippines is not dangerous. I’m white. Yes, people may torment you there, but that also happens A LOT in Thailand as well. I never felt scared in Manila, or other cities. Mindinao is supposedly the dangerous area, and i have never been there. While Filipino law doesn’t really recognize lbgt rights, their society is quite accepting, but not as accepting as Thailand for trans for employment opportunities. However, I will still disagree that Philippines is dangerous, because it really isn’t. I’d say downtown Toronto is more dangerous at night than Manila. I would also say from my experience, that Filipinos are nicer than Thai people, and more easy going in general. As far as internet scams go, I have no say in that.

I spent three weeks in the Philippines visiting my girlfriend in January of this year. We stayed mostly in Makati and Taguig but we went up to Baguio by bus and spent a week up there. Baguio was cool literally - they have pine trees and grow things like strawberries.

The real danger in the Philippines is being hit by a vehicle or moto - the traffic is crazy. Luckily I had my girlfriend watching out for me because if you are not used to it, you could easily get hit.

I noticed that most people were accepting of us as a couple except for a few haters. There always seemed to be one old man or woman giving us the evil eye. For the most part though people were friendly.

The Filipinas are crazy for foreign men. If I was a young guy, the place would be a pussy paradise.
