  • Jealousy

I'm going to keep this short.

I've noticed on several occasions that despite if its inside a club or at a restaurant or wherever there is jealousy among some of the girls, so much its got to the point of rivalry.

    WHY ? Really..I mean WTF??

This isn't a naive question. I understand that personalities don't mesh and REGARDLESS of the situation people in general will be more successful than others in some things i.e. dancing... but what purpose does it serve to get so riled as to trash talk others and then in turn paint a horrible picture of yourself and possibly damage your rep let alone success?

Shouldn't t women let alone the community as a whole support one another?

Before you say anything I know it's a dog eat dog world and its everyone for them self and all those other cliches but really .... WHAT THE F***??

      my longest post ever

This very question has been on my mind for a while. This behaviour is not unique to transexuals. It appears to occur in any marginalized population. Rather than become a cohesive (and therefore stronger) group, marginalized populations tend to further mariginalize other segments of said population.

For example, the same behaviours were (are?) noted in American blacks during (and post) slavery, interned jews during WWII, post-colonial aboriginal populations, gay/lesbian populations (particularly in non-western societies), Indians (from India) during British rule, and the list goes on. Contemporary studies show similar behaviours in prisons and detention facilities (see the Stanford Prison Experiment). I am not saying these situations are all exactly the same, but rather the same psychological processes are seen in oppressed/marginalized populations regardless of setting.

A famous psychological study of marginalization was performed on school children. The teacher arbitrarily acted as if children with blue eyes were "good" and children with brown eyes were "bad". The blue eyed children began behaving agressively toward the brown eyed children and the brown eyed children became more passive and withdrawn. The next day the teacher acted as if brown eyed children were "good" and the blue eyed children were "bad". One would expect the brown eyed children to remember the negative feelings of being marginalized and not perpetuate the same behaviours....however, the opposite happened and the brown eyed children behaved aggressively toward the blue eyed children and the blue eyed children became passive and withdrawn.

Marginalized or oppressed societies tend to circle the wagons and shoot inward. The us-and-them mentality is perpetuated ad infinitum. It is this behaviour that makes marginalized populations easier to marginalize or keep marginal (i.e. divide and conquer).

You would think we would know better but we're human, so we fuck things up. Turns out we humans have a long history of fuckin' shit up.

A long time ago, a wise man with long hair and a long beard, with some crazy ideas said, "Love your neighbour"....I think it was, like, Gerry Garcia or something...either way, that's what I try to do. Uh, Lisa/Barbie/Lucy/Lola/Alyssa/Karen/etc./etc....would you be my neighbour?

I don't think it just affects the girls, though. There has been a few times when I started to feel like some of the t-girls I was seeing should spend more time with me than others. I knew, even at the time, that I had no right to demand any sort of special attention, and yet I still felt it. It doesn't make sense, and it isn't fair, but I think in the past I've felt that somehow that I should have some sort of senority in the t-girl scene due to both my longevity and frequency in seeing girls. Logical it ain't, but it's a feeling.
