  • Sex Workers Around the World and the Legalities.

Here is a recent interesting topic about sex workers in Canada being afraid to contact the police. One in three are afraid to.

Another interesting article from Wikipedia about the legality of prostitution around the world. Interesting that in Australia the rules are determined by the State and not the Feds.

I am nervous with police contact and I am a white dude not breaking any laws on a daily basis. Police are not your friends, and I can understand why any marginalized, minority group, or anyone who faces discrimination is not comfortable interacting with police.

The type of people they recruit and the way they train them is a big problem

Our very own RCMP have faced thousands of former officers and civilian employees in class auction lawsuits in connection to their internal culture such as bullying , sexual harrassment, racism, assault, etc., They have already lost some of them for hundreds of millions and there are more in the pipeline.

Yes, we need police, but as an institution they are in very rough shape and need to be interacted with very cautiously. City police forces are often better as they are more easily controlled by the locals and they have more input and can make changes with less resistance (for example, my local VPD is far better than our neighbouring suburbs that use RCMP). RCMP is a bulging monolith that continues to be a shadow over our country while keeping good will because their red uniforms are cool

Shouldn't it be to each's own? Those who want to pay a woman/ tgirl for sexual contact should have the right, those who don't want to, don't have to. Its true that when people push their f'ing beliefs in a form of a law, they violate other's rights and freedoms and then may be bullied by the powers and controls. Wheres the freedom of choice, to choose what you want??

What makes these laws so unfair and even hypocritical is its legal for an adult to have as many sex partners they want, and there are socially active people, example young females especially girl on girl, or tgirls that have 10 to 20 or more partners, they constantly go out and meet new people everyday to have sex with, females get other female's numbers and they constantly phone each other around the clock to meet up, and its legal, and men always give money to their girlfriends and wives in a relationship and its legal, but if a guy gives money to a non-girlfriend or non-wife its illegal. That is BS and bullying from law makers and police.

Shouldn't it be to each's own and at their own risks? Freedom for adults to make their own choices. Those who need to, want to, or have to pay for sexual contact in order to get some should have the freedom to do so. Endless socially active females (and gays, tgirls) contact other females for sexual contact because they have that advantage of being wanted and theres no laws against that.

You are absolutely correct, dom r. However, Western society is based on Judeo-Christian principles and beliefs that have been firmly engrained and entrenched in society for a couple thousand years. It is only since the 1800s that some changes started to occur and significantly more since the end of WW II.

Society, for the most part, wants social control as it is a means of maintaining order in society and keeping people in line. In other words social control. People in power are afraid that if the masses could do what they reasonably wanted then they would lose control. So, having all sorts of rules around sex, for example, helps to maintain that social order. Even though people go and do hookups at bars or online, as you pointed out, until 25 years ago that was frowned upon and men who did that were considered 'womanizers,' women who slept around were considered 'sluts' and gays/lesbians who slept around were considered 'deviants.'

Your type of thinking, which I support, is considered libertarian which the political elites are not too fond of. They don't like the idea of people having freedom of choice to do what they they is right for them. They consider it dangerous to maintaining order and structure in society which means shifting the power differential from the elites to the masses.

Maybe one day our ideas for freedom of choice will come to fruition but do not expect it to happen anytime soon. With covid people are being asked to restrict their contact with other people. So, nightclubs, bars etc restricting hours and numbers of patrons. Governments bringing in rules regarding visiting restrictions and threats of enforcement but difficult to really do unless a 'surveillance state' is created with security camera and having location services on your phone turned on permanently.

So, the 'free love' that you spoke about in your thread is technically being curtailed for now and into the foreseeable future.

Governments do not like the masses making their own decisions because that sucks of freedom, democracy and thinking on your own which is dangerous for social control whether it be political or religious.
