I've been on Prep for well over a year. The only side effect was during the first two weeks with an occasional mild stomach cramp, Beyond that, no side effects. Taking it is a personal decision for everyone and their level of risk reduction. Condoms can fail (I saw someone once who used a vaseline based lube which destroys condoms), I once had an experience with a girl who tried to stealth breed me. Therefore, I take it for my own peace of mind. I know a few people living with HIV and while they are doing quite well, it is not a situation I want to be in.
