  • Generic Viagra from India - any thoughts?

Recently a friend confided in me that he orders "generic Viagra" from India over the internet and he let me have two 100 MG tablets.

I've tried "real" Viagra before (actually I prefer Cialis) and found that 50 MG was more than enough so I split these tabs in two (there's a score line to assist in doing so) and found that they worked quite well and, in fact, found that I didn't experience a headache with these as I have done with the 'real' stuff.

So my question is: anyone have any experience with these pills? They cost about $3.00 per pill (vs $17.50 per pill for the 'real' thing from Shoppers Drug Mart) and, according to my friend, he's had no problem ordering them. Can I trust my credit card number to these people? Will my order make it through Customs? (Obviously his did but will ALL of them?) Anyone have any experiences they'd care to share?

      It is worth a try.

Personally, since I am operating well beyond my own "Best Before Date", which expired many years ago, I primarily use the injectable MUSE first, then one of the other three E.D. drugs as back up, usually Levitra. Viagra caused me a lot of discomfort (headache, nasal congestion for hours, dry mouth) and Levitra was about the same.

Rather than wait weeks for an appt. with my G.P. or months for my Urologist, I looked at many offshore sites and decided last May to gamble by going ahead with a purchase from India. I purchased 4 tabs of name brand Cialis. The Cialis tabs looked exactly like the ones here, same colour, same shape, 20mg., and worked well. This order was just a trial order to test the waters and the 4 tabs cost $45 USD but considering that I also got 12 other "sample" pills, I considered it was a fair price. I bought them from http://www.bestliferx.com/free_combo.html

With the first purchase there was a "free" combo or sample pac of their "generic" Viagra and Levitra (I had used both these before but in prescription form) and Cialis (which I had never used before). All three generic versions were capsules filled with a white powder. I tried the generic Vardenafil (Levitra) and found no difference between it and the prescription tabs I was used to taking here. I have yet not tried the generic Tadalafil (Cialis) or Sildenafil (Viagra).

The purchase was billed to my Visa as ICPpay in US$ and the order was received in about two weeks as promised. It was in a 5x8" envelope and the package rattled when handled. I too had been concerned about customs clearance and so I was not too surprised to find that the package had been opened by CCRA, then resealed and delivered to me.

When I opened it I was surprised to see an old pocketbook novel, sealed in a plastic film, but still unopened. Hurriedly I opened it to find the book had been hollowed out and inside the cavity were four plastic boxes, each labelled with one of the ordered drugs.

Why, since the package rattled when handled, CCRA did not open the sealed book inside I could not understand. Maybe that is a common kind of packaging with parcels imported from India. who knows.

I would order this way again but with a larger order to reduce the cost per pill. It would still beat the cost here if your meds are not covered by insurance. I get $200/year coverage, which does not buy many ED pills.

I think that the main consideration for an overseas buy would be the reliability of the company you deal with, as this kind of transaction can be risky. Problem is, there is no way to guage their reputation. It will be a gamble. I made a small purchase first so was not too concerned.

I have placed and received 2 orders of the generic Viagra and also 2 orders of the generic Cialis. I have had no problems with the products themselves or the shipping. As a matter of fact, I just received an order of Cialis last week that was ordered only a few days before. I was rather surprised inasmuch as the first order took several weeks. As long as the real stuff is SO DAMNED EXPENSIVE I will continue to order the generic.

I know many T-Girls who get their hormones this exact same way. The best course of action if you're willing to take the risk, is do your homework. Look online for more info about the company, and the pills. If it's a scam or a horrible company, you should find websites complaining fairly quickly about it. It should be easy to find if the drugs advertised are the generic form of the pills you want also. So all in all not a huge amount of risk if the company looks clean.
Why kill you with fake pills when they could as cheaply send you the real stuff and get repeat business?

Fair question - the reason is because it is not covered on my insurance and I would have to pay $17.50 per pill (that's at Shoppers Drug Mart - others may be less but I can't imagine it would be much less.)

Saving $10 - $15 per pill seems worth investigating - at least it does for a pauper like me.

Thank you for that great input - I think I'm gonna chance placing a smallish order from the same company as my friend used and hope that I have the same experience he had.

              Thanks.

Be careful with drugs from Overseas, you cannot be sure what they contain. Many people have died using drugs from India specifically.
If you can find a good place it "may" continue to be safe but how can you be sure.

i used to order it from US years ago but sometimes the packages would get refused at the border at my expense, although sometimes they would resend. also there is always the off chance of criminal charges and fines, if customs is in a bad mood.

I get prescriptions here and have never been refused or quesitons.
I pay around $16 at shoppers then split the 100mg in half, $8 is not so bad for one dose.

In Montreal and Toronto you can find guys selling the real stuff in clubs etc, for $5 a pill, but this is black market and you need connections.

Generic I think may be available in Canada now but i have never asked.
I've tried generic stuff i bought in Thailand and it was fine.

I would check Canada first to see if we have generic.

Myself I prefer the name brand stuff for various reasons.

Not that I doubt your word but do you know that for a fact? Supposedly these pills are approved by the Indian FDA and, although likely not as stringent as the US FDA, I would assume there are some standards being applied.

Okay this is something I had not considered - what criminal charges could one be subject to for ordering prescription drugs from an off-shore source? As far as I know, possession of such drugs is not a chargeable offence but in such drugs trafficking is. Is there a possible criminal charge for purchasing these?

generic Viagara (or Cialis or Levitra) is not legally available in Canada. These drugs are too new to be available in generic form under Canadian Law.

I saw a show on tv where someone ordered drugs from india and the pills contained poison and only poison. No one is sure why they wouldn't just send placebos instead of poison. Was harm intended?

India is still considered a 3rd world country, I would not trust any agencies there. They are all most likely corrupt. I am not saying you will not find a good supplier but.......how much money are you really saving.
                      Is it worth it?

Indian drug companies are responsible for the Crystal Meth epidemic we have today as well.

In Thailand i have purchased generic which comes from busy drug stores in tourist areas of bangkok so i know it is real and good. Real Viagra in Thailand costs the same as Canada, just no prescription needed.
Still it is illegal for me to bring thse drugs back to canada.

These drugs are controlled substances, you are not allowed to import them into the country period, without express permission. It is illegal plain and simple. If the government got on one of their kicks, you never know.
They mostly just refuse the shipment which happened to me a couple times.
When you go to other countries you are expected to bring your prescriptions for any medications you have.

Viagra was approved in Canada in 1999.
My understanding is there is a ban on Generic drugs for 5 years after the name brand one is introduced. So it is possible the generics are avaialbe here.
All the online pharmacies based in Canada have the generic ones it seems.

That canadageneric ad is kind of misleading. They are actually selling name brands not generics e.g. Cialis made by Eli Lilli and Levitra made by Bayer. The prices are standard and same as at a corner pharmacy.

I have a vague recollection of the time of patent protection being upped from 5 to 10 years, about 1987 I believe. There is also consideration being given to a 20 year term to come into line with the EU.

                          An Update

Just an update - I placed on order on-line for 30 100 MG tablets, which entitled me to 4 "bonus" tablets (total - 34) The charge to my credit card worked out to just under $100 (after exchange to $US) so just under $3 per pill.

The order arrived within two weeks (standard airmail - trackable once it arrived in Canada). I was a little nervous when I checked the tracking number and it showed the package as having been sent to Customs for clearing but it cleared the next day and was sent on for delivery.

Pills arrived in bubble packs, wrapped in black cardboard and then placed in a 'squarish' manila-style envelope. They used a lot of tape to attach the bubble packs to the cardboard (I guess so that the package wouldn't rattle when shaken).

The correct charge appeared on my Credit Card bill and I haven't noted any unusual activity on that card since placing the order. The pills work exactly as well as the two 'samples' my friend gave me.

So, all in all, I'm happy with the purchase and, by my calculations, I saved almost $500.
