No offense Lisa. I do hope that there is someone out there willing to open another strip club. The Lounge had it's day and it was fun, I had many good times there.

It just seems a little shady that someone is trying to open a club and not being able to give a location or any advertising

Goodhandys is a fun place, but I have noticed that alot of the regulars have either been "banned"or don't go anymore. The "banned"is hear say, It's just what some of the girls have said.

Competion is good in this City, we have the room for multiple clubs !

i agree with you about having multiple bars for us competition makes it better for everyone, ive not heard about any girls being banned from goodhandys other then barbie and i would find it strange if that were the case as we both know its pretty laid back there.even if this new guy doesnt open the lounge im sure in wont be long till somebody else does i mean the owners of diamonds will realize that they need rent money above any loyalty stated earlier.i look at it this way the girls need work its alot safer to strip then escort.

        sad but true ...

I am the guy that wanted to re-open the lounge, I saw a great opportunaty and the demand was there so in went to Diamonds and had a meeting with the owner . I told him that i wanted to plan an event at the lounge weekly than he told me that shemale event would work he told me that alot of people are still calling to know if the lounge is still active. So we talked about the days available and i picked tuesday and thursday the only days that made sense buisness wise the 14 and 16 would have been the start that we agreed on leaving me with a couple weeks to advertise , so i did , made up somewhat of a website and posted an add on backpage , a couple of hours after my phone was ringing with t-girls and customers inquiring about the event , everything was going well and was looking like it was going to be a succes . Last thursday i was bored at home so i decided to go to GH , when i got there i saw one of the girls that i had a conversation on the phone with and i introduce myself and told her that i was looking forward to work with her and it went down hill from there Todd and Ceasar approached me and ask me about the situation i told them its was true that i wanted to re-open the lounge i have a great deal of respect for what his doing and i dont want to take away from it than he told me that i cant recruit girls from GH i told him that wasnt my intension than 30 mins later i was ask to leave so i left didnt think nothing of it . A couple days after i get a message saying " why did you punk us " so i went on the forum and i saw Todd's post so i called the owner of Diamonds to figure out the situation and its true he decided to pull out he told me there to much drama he has been receiving a lot of calls and he doesnt want to deal with the drama i guess somebody's hard work and bitching paid off . All i can say is that i tried i guess im gonna have to try harder ! I apologize to everybody that had their hopes up...

I was going to stay out of this because it was clear that certain people did not understand or read my last post and they made it about something it was not and of course about themselves. But my point had nothing to do with peoples right to work were there they wanted to, anyone else having a shemale event or ownership of anything or anyone.

I have known both Todd and Mandy for over 15 years and have been a part of there events since day 1. The one thing I can say without question is that they are honest people who have always done things professional and above board. They do not play childish underhanded games or get involved in the drama that some girls/guys seem to thrive on.

So I can say without question that Todd nor Mandy caused drama with this situation. They did not do anything to try and prevent any event and would not be so underhanded as to pull that type of bullshit. To even suggest it is an insult and is slanderous against them and there business. I really feel that seeing how little Todd posts on topics even when there persons/business are called into question speaks volumes of who they are as people and business people. Not to mention what they have done for the Trans committee and for sex workers.

My personal thoughts on this is that if you are going to try and open an event be original and do not steal someone else?s concept and hard work they put into making the lounge a success. Do not show up at there club to promote that very event and try to recruit girls. It was disrespectful and that is the definition of underhanded tactics.

If it was some other industry, I would agree.
Strippers and sex is a homo-genius product with little differentiation between providers or companies.
It doesn't take a genius to open a stripper bar and call it the lounge. (no offense to anyone)
It already is a lounge by definition.

However stripper bars are famous for opening in the same location with a new similar name, it's classic.
                        The Lounge 2
                        Peagsus 3
                        etc.
The name just doesn't matter that much in this business.
If Diamonds closed, it probably would reopen as Diamonds 2.

As for the rest of it, everyone knows how things work in Toronto.

Blocking New Business from opening should be illegal. New business creates jobs, income, spending, etc. Wait a second...that's right! It is illegal. The Competition Act of Canada.

On the same token, recruiting at a competing venue is not exactly legit either.

If someone is opening a club where yours failed....Sorry but too bad. It's called capitalism or free enterprise. Monopolies are not good for anyone and normally end up regulated.

true enough,if the lounge was so successfull then it would have never closed up in the first place, now its time to get new owners and new people to give it another go.everybody knows what happened here, goodhandys didnt want competition for fear of losing money i can see why they would be upset but what they did was plain wrong afterall its not even in the same city for chist sakes.im sure goodhandys lost a ton of respect not only from the 9 top girls i recruited but from the paying customers who were looking forward to a new beginning.rest assured this doesnt sit well with many people and its a shame it came down that way.

                              Clarifying things

                              Hello:

The reason I don't get involved in forums often, is because once a thread becomes "hot", people start speculating and getting emotional and making true claims, and false claims, and it gets tempting to reply to every single comment, to correct any falsehoods. And that would take all day. But now it's getting personal, and incorrect information is flying, so I feel the need now to go through the past few pages of threads, and correct some things that are being said, and hopefully this clears up any issues and clarifies.

                              1. About competition and fairness and freelance entertainment and strip clubs and events: most who entertain at strip clubs are definitely freelance - whether they are girls, trans, or guys. We did not say anything to the ladies who entertain at our venue regarding restricting them from doing so at other venues, when hearing about the Lounge re-opening. As Mandy herself keeps saying to people "the T-Girls dancing here do not work for us, they work with us". The only time T-Girls are paid by us is if they are participating in Adult video or an Adult cam performance. And furthermore they do not pay us to work in our establishment. Money given to us is for using our Sexy Booths, this is a fee included in the proper running of a members based sex area. Since they are not asked to "clean up" after themselves, they do usually tip the person doing so, some were also required to tip out the DJ when the Lounge was in use. This is a usual practice at any strip club. And certainly never insisted upon at Goodhandy's, but it is appreciated.

                              2. I came to work last Thursday to a chatter of voices from all directions, about the Lounge re-opening. Knowing that the community is prone to gossip and misinformation, I took in everything I heard with a grain of salt. Amongst the things I heard: a guy was planning on re-opening the Lounge. He was phoning girls that entertain at our venue, and telling them that his name was Cesar (who is my head security, who used to run the Lounge for me). He had posted a photo of a girl on his website without her permission, and then taken it down. Remember - this is all hearsay, but it's what I came to work to hear. This did not sound good - especially impersonating Cesar. I was at work, so I asked Mandy to call our colleagues at Diamonds for verification. They told us that they were indeed talking to a guy named Ralph about possibly doing a Tuesday event, but that it was not yet confirmed 100%, and they had received several calls of complaint regarding photos being used inappropriately. She certainly did not try to deter this from happening, I had mentioned this already in a post earlier that, we do not have any immediate plans on running a Shemale Stripper event in Mississauga.

                              3. Later that evening a gentleman came into the club. The bartender told me that a girl said a guy was "going around asking girls to dance in his establishment". Again - hearsay. But worth checking out. I located the guy. Asked to talk with him. Was introduced as Mike. I told him that was the 3rd name I had been told he had, but gave him the benefit of doubt - people make stuff up all the time. He informed me that he was opening the Lounge in a couple weeks Tuesday and Thursday, and it was confirmed 100% by the owners of Diamonds. I told him that quite honestly, it was inappropriate to go into a venue and recruit or promote a similar event to our client base. He insisted that he was not doing such a thing, and also insisted that he was not using the name Cesar. I told him that times are tough, the economy is bad, and of course I have the right to protect our interests. He stuck around even though I told him I preferred he did not. Mandy phoned my security and instructed him to politely ask the guy to leave, and anyone who have met Cesar would know he is nothing but polite in these matters. He was not "thrown out", he was asked politely to leave. Mike seemed friendly and polite and respectful, but it's very reasonable for me to not want someone inside the club disrupting things. And things were not adding up, so why take the chance. We had to go on instinct in this situation, as this has happened in the past, with other potential competitors taking advantage of our good will.

                              4. Monday I phoned Diamonds and spoke to another owner. I did not call to "bitch and complain", or to interfere. If someone is opening a similar event, on the same day, with similar hours, it is reasonable for me to inquire with the owners of Diamonds as to the truth of the situation. This would allow me to know what was going on. The owner I spoke with told me exactly what I posted in this thread - that it was not happening. He sounded surprised that it was already being advertised. It was a short call - just verifying things. I did not, I repeat, try to interfere - it was a non-issue anyways - Diamonds said the doors would be locked.

                              5. What probably happened is that there are several owners of Diamonds. They may not communicate perfectly with each other. I am just speculating, but that's what I figured happened. None of my business. If a deal was made, and then broken, that's between Mike and Diamonds. I've been screwed over by clubs before in the past also. Lesson to learn - get things in writing.

                              6. What bothers me about this thread is the speculation and the emotion of people. It escalates from me saying I made a call inquiring, to implications that I interfered. I am being very sincere here - while times are tough, and I would not be thrilled if someone opened up a similar event on the same nights as mine, it is a free world and there is nothing I can do. I certainly wouldn't try to stand in the way of Diamonds, or Mike, or the girls, having opportunities. But I also do not think it's wrong for us to protect our interest. There must be a lot of smart people on this message board who are involved in business. Would it be appropriate for the manager of one bank to walk into another bank, and try to recruit the tellers right from their desk? Or the manager of Zanzibar to walk into the Brass Rail and start handing out his business cards? I don't think so. General ethics.

                              7. Other detail I want to address while I'm here - it was mentioned about regulars being "barred" from Goodhandy's. It is true - we bar people (as do any responsible nightclub with a liquor license to protect) when we feel they would endanger the other patrons of the establishment. This ranges from endangering them physically (as in, violence or theft), or if they have a drug problem, or if they are endangering the atmosphere by bothering the patrons or disrupting the environment. People are rarely barred for life - people deserve chances. If they contact me again after a while, depending on the situation, they usually are allowed to return. It's a normal part of running a club. I hope people know that our number one priority is keeping the place safe and comfortable for all. I am aware that several of the patrons who have been barred have been on an active campaign to express their dissatisfaction. There are always two sides to a story. In the end, we have to do what we feel is right to make the place feel safe for all.

                              8. Lisa, always have liked you and have nothing bad to say about you, but you know as well as I know, that you get excited about things, and when I scroll back through your posts in this thread, you are just expanding and imagining and speculating on things that were not true. I really really hope that you find this post clarifying, as you are saying things about me that are simply not true, and I always thought you had respect for me as a person. And you're right - we closed the Lounge for a reason - if it was working perfectly, it would still be happening.

                              9. We have not ever interfered with others opening up T-Girl business, as a matter of fact there are other events out there. And the T-Girls come and go to any event they choose to attend. We only ask them not to promote those events in our club, or on our Network Site. This is, in our opinion, would be unethical and bad business practice. We would certainly not promote our business somewhere if it was not welcomed.

Thank you for reading our post and hopefully this will enlighten an otherwise dark situation. And we would like to add that this will be our final post on this topic.
