  • Citibar Montreal closed?

According to Yelp it is permanently closed? Is this true and if so is there a new place?

I was searching last night and it came up when I clicked on the Yelp link.

If you search Citibar Montreal Yelp there are two listings. One is open and the second says permanently closed.

It was a most unique place.

It's closed for renovations and to change the type of services provided. It will reopen. Time will tell whether or not it will attract/welcome the previous clientele.

Meanwhile the watch is out to see where the ladies migrate - Funspot? Cleo's? and apparently Wednesday night at the Appollon is dedicated to the ladies - no reports yet on this spot.

From my understanding, we will not be welcome back. This is the vibe I got from both Steve and Chuck when I went to say my goodbyes. After the renovations, none of the staff will be returning and have all been told to look elsewhere for employment. The former manager at Citibar is now working at Apollon. To me, this is a very clear indication that the owners have decided they have had enough issues with not only the police and the neighbouring apartments, but with the constant drama that went on in that place.

Proof: The wifi password for Citibar was.....dramabar.

I don't even know what goes on upstairs at Cleopatra's anymore.
There is probably still the regular strip club downstairs but not sure if they have any drag shows anymore.
Last time I was there, there was no show and just some really nasty GG hookers hanging around.
10 years or more ago, Cleopatra's rocked.
Not sure what killed the whole TS scene there exactly.
There used to be, or maybe still is, alot of CDs who would change there.
I think they even had lockers and stuff for this.
It did start to get a little run down and in need of some cleaning and renovations though.

Citi Bar being right on the Ontario street strip just attracted trouble.
Even though most of the trade has moved off the street, this is still where many cops and johns come cruising.
Most other bars would not have this issue I think.

Citi Bar was fantastic in the summer but lacking the winter, due to the large patio.
Of course the large patio also seemed to double as a stroll sometimes, causing issue.

Montreal needs something like Cleo's from the old days.
Where there was high quality drag shows that attracted tourists and the straight crowd.
There was a little class mixed with old style entertainment and hot hot tgirls.
Many people just came to look.

Interesting - I didn't know that. I had spoken with another employee and she didn't mention this.

I'm a bit of a slow learner so I had forgotten the drama - the lady who always ended up fighting until she was banned and then tried to drive a big snow plow into the building, when I spent an hour with her in private she was OK - the night I'm almost certain my drink was spiked, had a feeling like I never had had before, fortunately a friend put me in a cab for my hotel - the attempt of 2 ladies to pick pocket me - several rip offs -

None the less I had many a good evening there and that is where my education in this realm commenced when I wandered in one day just to have a beer. Also I grew very fond of a non pro there.
