As big of a star thatVaniity is here in the US, Camila was her counterpart in Brazil.Initially she was a real pain in the ass to deal with. In 2003, Ifinally got her to shoot with Persian Blue, my photographer inBrazil.
I then visited Brazil,for the first time, the following year. Again, she was difficult todeal with and even tried to re-negotiate the pay on set. I didn?tbite and the shoot continues and was great. I finally got through herexterior and a genuine friendship developed between us.
Twice while I wasthere, she took me out on the town. We would go to clubs, with linesgoing down the street. She would just walk right up to the door, withme in tow, and in we would go. No waiting, no cover charges and evenfree drinks. That is the kind of pull she had there.
In my mind she was the epitome of a Goddess. Although she is no longer with us, I have fond memories of her that I will carry forever.
