Clients in Alberta have to understand this concept.

The present situation in Alberta is scary.
            1. New Government
            2. Economy is suffering
            3. 15,000 Jobs to be lost by the end of Summer.

Other than my clients that fly me out for private sessions, I will not be travelling to Alberta or the West Coast for a while. In December when I was touring I did annouce that I would not be travelling as much in Canada as now I can travel to the USA or Europe and make 30% more just on exchange.

Although the loss of any job is scary, the loss of 15,000 Jobs in Alberta in comparison to the total work force is minimal. Additionally, what percentage of that job loss would affect your business is again minimal.

The new Provincial NDP government (not as socialist as the Fed NDP's) and the oil companies have agreed that they "will" work together to keep the machine running and bring us back to where we should be.

The 30% greenback toward the Canadian dollar though is huge. I tell people to stop shopping in the US. To buy Canadian. But in this case...can't really blame you. Business is business.

Hopefully girl's like Lola and such don't follow suit. It will be our loss.

                Hey Mugs,
In reality, girls travelling to the states to work is not a bad thing. The money we make is pulled out of the USA economy and into the canadian economy. This is similar to what many girls were doing in Canada. Pulling money out of the economy tax free. This was one of the reasons you saw many foreign girls here during the warm months...then they disappeared. 10-20 girls doing this and 1-2 million disappear from the Canada economy. Brings new meaning to Buy Local Products.
Let's but realistic here. That 15,000 job loss....is on top of this:

                Big Picture

Between Jan. 1 and May 7, 55 Alberta employers notified the provincial government of their plans to terminate a total of 9,342 workers (including 1,962 employees at Target stores in Alberta). That’s compared to 7,900 employees in all of 2014.Jason Gilmore, an analyst with Statistics Canada, said by early January 2015, 13,000 jobs were lost in the Alberta’s natural resource sector since September 2014. The majority of those jobs were in oil and gas.
Also in January, the Canadian Association of Oilwell Drilling Contractors predicted 167 fewer drilling rigs in the field compared to 2014, resulting in the layoffs of 3,400 rig workers with the loss of another 19,500 indirect jobs.
Major Alberta energy industry layoffs announced so far in 2015:
                May 13
Trican Well Services announces it has cut 2,000 employees from its North American workforce, including close to 800 in Canada. The update was included in Trican’s first-quarter financial report, which shows the company had a $35.7-million net loss and a $60.3-million adjusted loss in the first quarter.
                March 20
Trican Well Services confirms it is cutting up to 500 jobs across the country, 150 of them reportedly in Red Deer.
                March 18
ConocoPhillips Canada confirms it is laying off 200 workers. The cuts represent about seven percent of its workforce in Canada, and will primarily affect employees in Calgary. In February, the company told its 2,800 Canadian Business Unit employees it would announce staff reductions by the end of March
                March 17
Talisman Energy, based in Calgary, announces it is cutting as much as 15 per cent of its workforce at its head office. Of its 1,300 workers in Calgary, between 150 to 200 will be let go. Talisman is being acquired by Spanish energy giant Repsol in a deal worth $15.1 billion Cdn.
Nexen Energy, a subsidiary of China’s CNOOC, announces 400 job cuts, 300 of them in Calgary. The layoffs account for almost 15 per cent of the company’s workers in Canada.
                March 11
Husky Energy tells 1,000 tradespeople at its Sunrise oilsands project they are out of a job. The company says construction at the site is largely complete, although work was not expected to end until the summer.
                February 19
Finning International says it will reduce its workforce in Alberta and B.C. by roughly nine per cent or about 500 people, some of them based in Edmonton and the oil sands. The company supplies heavy equipment.
                February 15
Cenovus, one of Canada’s biggest energy players, says it’s slashing its workforce by roughly 15 per cent. That translates into 800 jobs, the majority of them contract positions.
                February 12
Precision Drilling, Canada’s biggest drilling company, announces it is cutting its budget in half. It confirms it has 1,000 fewer people working the rigs compared to the same period in 2014.
Husky Energy confirms there will be job cuts in a $400 million budget hack but gives no firm figures. In February, it announced it’s reducing this year’s capital budget by as much as $400 million and looking for up to $600 million in operational savings in response to the ongoing low-price environment for oil and gas.
                February 10
Oil services giant Halliburton announces plans to slash its workforce worldwide by eight per cent, or 6,400 jobs. It declined to provide numbers on specific regions but the cuts were expected to affect hundreds of jobs in Alberta.
Sanjel, a Calgary-based private oilfield services company, confirms it has been laying off workers. The company has more than 4,000 employees.
                February 5
Weatherford International, an oilfield services company, announces it is laying off 8,000 workers- about 15 per cent of its workforce. Reports say almost 1,000 of those layoffs will be in Alberta.
Evraz, a company that makes steel plates and tubes for drilling rigs, lays off roughly 150 workers at its Calgary plant, according to Global News sources.
                February 3
Newalta, an oilfield services company based in Calgary, lays off 180 workers. The cuts amount to 15 per cent of its staff.
                January 15
Schlumberger, the world’s biggest oilfield-services company, says it will cut 9,000 jobs. Number of workers affected in Alberta: unknown.
                January 14
Suncor Energy announces it is cutting 1,000 people from its workforce of about 14,000.
                January 9
Royal Dutch Shell announces hundreds of job cuts at a massive oil sands project. Shell said it is laying off less than 10 per cent of its 3,000 workers at Albian Sands.

                  Uh huh...

You're going to the USA to make money and bring home the bread, back to Canada which is very good. Unlike those that pay 30% currency exchange to shop in the U.S. even for daily needs...groceries for example.

I usually try to keep my comments short which at times doesn't cover everything or sometimes gets misinterpreted due to lack of info. Anyways, here goes.

The oil rigs have been in limbo for several years now. Actually, sense closer to 2008. They've never fully recovered.

Many of those lost jobs, especially oil patch, are white collar overhead high paid positions. Another example if Enbridge had 100 planners they're laying off 50 of them. This filtered down to other office positions...secretaries, payroll clerks, etc. That is where the bulk of the layoffs are coming from. When the going was good extra positions were created and the money was flowing and nobody gave a crap.

They also made it harder for people from the East who worked seasonally then go home for the summer, live on EI, then back to Alberta to work when the EI was coming to an end. Get their working hours back up to maintain EI claims. Many jobs in Fort McMurray, Suncor and Syncrude refineries for example are filled by locals only. In other words if you want to work here...move here! I moved here!

The correlation between the layoffs and Alberta's unemployment rate...Alberta's unemployment rate is still holding steady at a very low rate of approximately 5.4% despite all of these layoffs that we see in the news. That means Albertans are still working and earning money. I don't know what that translates to for other provinces.

Everyone I know myself included, are still working. Pipe fitters, scaffolders, welders, labourers etc are still getting laid off as jobs come to a completion and within weeks, sometimes days, are moving on to their next job. Part of the lifestyle is working one, two, three months, get laid off...find work elsewhere. That's what it is. There are very few full time positions.

I'm a great example of that...which is why we've never managed to meet. I think I've done a thread on that in fact as I was chasing around yourself, Lola and Seductive Eve. My circle of employment is Edmonton, Cold Lake and Fort McMurray with the jobs usually lasting around six weeks, get laid off, pull a slip (union) off I go to my next adventure always hoping it will turn into long term. But rarely does...except this time!!! This job is said to be about 2 years which will bring me to my retirement...it could be over in 2 days, 2 weeks, 2 months...2 years or 10 years. That's the life, that's the ways a it is. So far it's been 3 months and counting...I could go to work and get laid off tomorrow. Then I will find another...guaranteed.

Mugsammy is correct Shyla. Edmonton is still going strong with at least 8 cranes in the downtown area erecting office towers, a new RAM, arena, and condos not to mention the Henday extension, upgrades in Fort Saskatchewan and hwy 63. The oil patch slow down has been good as it freed up workers for these projects so more fellas in Edmonton to spend their hard earned cash.

Calgary is hurting with corporate and construction layoffs. An engineer friend was cut but found a decent job paying half of what he was earning.

Edmonton may not be as sexy as Calgary but is much more stable as its economy is far more diversified. So don't believe everything you read in the news as Calgary is hurting the most and to a lesser extent Fort McMurray. As usual the rest of Alberta keeps chugging along and keeps the province going.

As for the NDP, Notley is very smart, smarter than Prentice. Alberta won't being going in the toilet because of them. They have 4 years to prove themselves and they don't want to screw up their chances to get re-elected. Many red Tories like myself voted NDP for the first time in their lives because we were sick of the corrupt entitled Conservatives.

I don't blame you and other girls for going stateside as the exchange rate is too good to pass up. I go there 1-2 times a year but after my trip to Vegas at Easter and seeing the exchange rate on my credit card....Ouch!

Hello Mexico!! For the next few years.

I completely understand everything you guys are saying....but you have to look at it from my point of view. Alberta works as a whole for working girls. Meaning that you need both cities and maybe GP, McMurray or Reddeer for a profitable trip. If Calgary is suffering and Edmonton is doing well, then it's not ideal to travel. Flying in from the East Coast, plus 200-300$ a night for a hotel, and other expenses quickly mount. Longer trips tend to be more profitable, but McMurray and Reddeer are also hurting. So....where do I go?

Asking other girls how they did is pointless as no one is truthful on how they do.

Now throw in the local escorts in Edmonton and the situation becomes a headache. See....

Red Deer is feeling some pain, Grand Prairie is run by the rigs...some pain there...but still lots of money going around. Fort Mac is doing just fine.

Too bad about the local competition...the selection is soooo dreadful...nobodies making any coin from me!!! And haven't in quite a long time now. After so many failures I said that I will wait for only the best and I'm sticking to it.

Thruout all of this fighting against the greenback is the toughest one to dispute.

With Shyla gone my list of four hopefuls is now down to three. That leaves Lola, Seductive Eve and Suzy.

Understood Shyla and I don't blame you. To fly out here along with food and lodging there has to be some profit in it for you otherwise you are just giving it away for free.

Most of the local girls here aren't really any competition which is why some have reduced their rates, and they are still not worth it even if they were paying me...lol, while one other has been positing on BP about needing a license and police stings....all BS to curb the competition.

I hope you enjoy your time stateside and rake in the cash while the exchange rate is profitable. In the meantime mugsammy and I will sit here feeling rejected, downtrodden, neglected, left out, etc. (is the guilt trip working...lol) while we await your return to the West.
