I am going on vacation to Europe soon (including turkey ), and will be in Ottawa tomorrow to apply for my turkish visa. For my trip to Europe, i've decided NOT to work at all, and enjoy my vacation fully.

I will be available in Toronto till September 19 early afternoon before departing to Zurich then come back in town on October 17 early afternoon.

You did not need to go to Turkish embassy, they could issue visa right at the Istanbul airport. Experience speaks.
