Ok.
Depth of field refers to the portions of the picture that is sharpest.
The smaller the portions that are sharp the is the depth.
This picture represents a minimal depth of field as you can see the center is sharp while the background and foreground are more blurry.
The further you get from the sharp portion the blurrier it gets.


A full depth of field will have almost no blur at all.
So yes in portrait Photography where focus on the face is of utmost importance, a minimal depth of field can draw out the subject.
It can also make the Depth of Field portion appear to float further above the background if you use the right lighting in the background.

However, in porn that is not usually what we are looking for.
If you have your big hard cock in your hand I want to be able to also focus on your face too, sometimes I will reduce the depth of field but most of my shots I want a full depth of field.

The the other reason for actual hardcore porn you do not want parts of the scene blurry. The background adds to the picture.
Toys, and other memorable artifacts may add to the scene and even enhance it. Clearness is the key in porn, not artsy stuff. Maybe there is a guy jerking off over on the couch watching the action, you want this to be clear. Maybe you may adjust the depth of field throughout but I don't have time to screw around like that too much. My equipment is set the way I like it and I go.

Often I will diffuse the lights differntly, such as a foil insert will give girls a more sparkly look which works good for sexy shoots.

Take the bottom picture of Noriko for example why would I want and more depth of field here. She is gorgeous from head to toe and I want to see every square inch of her, oops is that something poking out of her daisy dukes? O it's so clear I can almost see it.
I am close in and I do not want to have her seem any further away.
As a guy it is just right.

The background of Toronto behind Samara adds so much to the photo, I don't want to blur it out. However if she was taking the picture for another purpose or result then you may adjust the depth of field.

This is a picture of an ass. It is an example of "proper 3 point lighting, depth of field and using sunlight as a high-key." We used a flex-fill, flash, aperture ... I'm no Keyra Augustina butt you can tell the photo has not been Photoshopped (the ass is still red between the cheeks and there are various blemishes...) It just takes a little time and practice and soon you too can take good pictures of "Trany Ass!"

BTW, this was taken with a cheapo "Coolpix" camera ....

I photographed weddings for 28 years so I would consider myself a professional photographer. With the exception of some pics I took of Lisa during one of our get togethers (they turned out pretty well I think), I haven't taken any of the type of pictures pertaining to this discussion. As a professional, I am going to side with Craig on this one. It's one thing to be photographing in a large studio with all kinds of lights, diffusers, filters etc. available. Working in a hotel room or small apartment can be very challenging and when you add in time constraints, I think the work he produces for Yum is quite good. Sure, I have seen better, but Craig does OK under difficult conditions.
