I do not care when a celebrity dies. It is almost pathetic to think that their death can affect your life in any minor way. No one celebrity personally has added any value to my life and is thus just another death. My grandmother's family was murdered before her eyes in ways which she couldn't even describe to me during the holocaust in Aushewitz. When she died, the only way she could be put in a newspaper or recognized by anyone is payment to the Toronto Star. Many others out there, besides holocaust survivors, led difficult lives and get no recognition at death for all their trials and tribulations which they survived. Instead, everyone writes RIP MJ all over facebook (not to mention become sudden "Thriller" fans) because of a person who sang popular music, changed their skin colour and was involved in several child molestation cases. Tough life living with millions to fritter away. Death is death, rich or poor, the only ones who deserve better recognition on death are those which added value to society at large like Mother Theresa or Ghandi. When someone from The OC (FYI, a shitty show adored by unintelligent teens with no vision of reality so enjoy watching it so they can impose it on their lives) dies it will somehow be devstating to the media and society, which is pathetic. According to Latoya's biography, MJ's eldest sister, Micheal was sexual molested as a child of which the family strongly denied. It is also widely believed that victims of childhood sexual abuse have the tendency to relive their experience by committing the same crime against other children. Micheal had obviously a split personality as result of his trauma and lived a short painful life without seeking the right medical help. I hope he gets some form of absolution where ever his soul may rest!

i have to agree the worst of us are pedophiles. even the inmates have a way of dealing with that.

but lets try just to be more humane than what was done to MJ in life.
we have no way of knowing what events shaped MJ from a father that stole HIS childhood to the media that crucified him. we have no way of knowing some things but all the money in the world cannot take loneliness from someone. try to imagine being MJ and your every move is fodder for the media.

Never convicted never means not guilty. It simply means the trial did not come to a successful conclusion. He was not proven guilty because the trial process was aborted before it could be properly concluded.

Surely smitty, you and everyone has had the opportunity to read the details of the trial and the way it ended.

The public should never allow his fame as an entertainer blind them to his sexual or (actually even criminal), shortcomings.

There is almost zero probability that he was not a child molester. He was provided with a completely fair trial, and for the princely sum of only $20,000,000.00 bought off his accuser and the trial had to be aborted.

Certainly the father of the child in question knew that he could extort MJ. With a $20 million buy-off I'd be willing to disappear even more quickly and completely!

I think that this is an interesting post. I don't happen to agree with the harsh condemnation. Now I might be wrong - you might have personally witnessed MJ doing harm to a child or you may have run across undeniable proof that he did harm to a child. If that is the case, then perhaps you should include this with your comments along with your harsh judgement. However, I believe that you probably do not possess such evidence and that it is merely your opinion that he is a pedophile. This has been all over the media and you may have been influenced by the pervasive coverage.

Barring undeniable evidence, I am unwilling to condemn someone. This is a difficult thing to say because Pedophilia is very repulsive to me. I have a natural tendency to condemn it. However, I do not believe that MJ is necesarily a pedophile. Certainly he was a strange egg. But are we going to kill anyone who doesn't fit into our idea of normal? If that were the case, I would be dead myself! How many of us are THAT normal? What is NORMAL? I don't believe there is such a thing at all.

I am not saying that Pedophilia is acceptable - I don't think so at all. As a matter of fact, there is some strong evidence that these people cannot be "cured" or, in any way, be persuaded or forced to desist. For the sake of the rest of us, these people need to be put away. But lets not put them away until we can count them in that group for sure. In order to protect our own rights, we have a responsibility to be thorough in our examination of the facts. We should respect the rights of every person until that becomes impossible.
