bathroom issue

i think the real point is being missed. bathrooms become an issue because the 'public' at large know very little if nothing at all about transgender. corporations will deal with it in the monetary issue of ' how much will it cost to have bathrooms more inclusive of gender?'

perhaps Nikki hit it on the head with 'humansexual'. could we as an educated north american society realise that gender has actually nothing to do with sex. except in this forum of course.

then again we get into our multicutural issues and so on. would some people feel that coed bathrooms are ok or would there be religious issues.

all of us are the same we have to pee and we have to shit and we fart. and yep sometimes it stinks to high heaven.

im am not sure what goes on in 'womens' bathrooms but men washrooms are quite funny. some guy standing at the urinal for ages because he is nervous and cant pee and just pretends to have finsihed and goes back to his desk with a full bladder. or you have the guys that just have to fart as they pee.

can we all get past these bathroom funnies and just go in and do our business. or will some of us die of embarrassement.

we can make fun of this issue but it is serious for the transgendered person.

maybe we need to see a bathroom sign that has a 'T' on it but then again someone that has fully transitioned may find this discrimanatory against their innner true feeling. i am a girl therefore i can go in the womens washroom. or the other way around. should a woman feel uncomfortable because a transwoman has gone into a cubicle to do their business and then come out and freshen up in the mirror. again society needs to be educated and get used to the idea that there is no danger from a transwoman using the same facilities. education education education.

and Lisa i can only imagine what you and the other girls have been thru and this brings us to the issue of inner strength which for the most part all of you have and makes you truly more attractive to the educated.

I think the key point being argued here is choice. Do you believe being a transexual is a choice, in the same way that dressing like a pirate is a choice? This goes further, do you think being homosexual is a choice? Or being aboriginal, or whatever...

Things that are not choices should be accomodated, things that are choices should be left to individual responsibility.

I would bet that there is no higher percentage of transgendered people playing the system that the population at large, so this should be a 'scamming the systems' story and not a 'transgender' story. However, because it was made out to be a transgender story that is designed to get an emotional reaction from those less sensitive to trans issues, it is not surprising that the transgender community would take issue with it (it is again the 'Us vs Them' thing).

In university we had coed bathrooms...you get used to it. And sometimes it pays off (I caught a girl masturbating in the early morning, and she let me watch...this was a real big deal for me at 17). Or we could do what the Dutch do in Amsterdam, just a hole in the sidewalk...for everyone. Problem solved.

Now I REALLY don't like this lady. Governments should not pay for peoples sex change operations. There have been Government cutbacks on legitimate services (a family in my hometown was told the gov will NOT continue their child's autism drug benefits) but yet they are paying for peoples sex change operations, this is wrong and it should stop. Canada is too good to people (sound familiar).

I don't want to make sweeping judgments or broad assumptions, because everybody is different, and I will always defend peoples right to live the lifestyle THEY CHOOSE.

But (there's always a but) the government should not be spending tax payers money on people just so they can 'be the person they should be'.

This was really the heart my original post. PLus I guarantee you she was doing some gambling. I don't believe this lady is disabled and these types of stories bother me.

I'm not being critical of tgirls or the transgendered community, I am being critical of this individual (given the facts that were revealed in the article). Of coarse my opinion on government covering sex change operations will not win me any fans around here.

i have met some people where similar things have happened to them. the stories they tell are embarrassing and an afront to their transgender both mtf and ftm. i guess the more trans that get out there the more society and everybody will have to deal with the issue.
