  • My Old Man's A Joke

A rare old gem about growing up with a drunken coal miner father.

    For dysfunctional families everywhere...

          • top title playing now, others played past week during videogame breaks.

--RUSH-Caress of steel-1975 -played at -6% pitch for that cool effect, increased bass and treble.

-ALICE COOPER-Killer Live in St.Louis-1971.-played at -4% pitch, ultra cool rock metal with Alice's vocals at his most sinister.

-MOTORHEAD- Motorizer-2008 -their best album, pure metal biker, no punky guitar, all metal, played 1 day after i posted this.

-RUSH-2112-1976 -played at -8 pitch, max bass and treble. They call it hard rock I call it heavy metal.

-PERCY FAITH-Todays themes for young lovers/For those in love-1967/68 -Love yearningly sad elevator music songs with echoey female vocals. Very best songs- "Theres a kind of hush(all over the world)", "Sunny", "Yellow days", "Cant take my eyes off of you", "I say a little prayer", "Brand new morning", "For those in love", etc.

-FU MANCHU-Daredevil-1995 -Cool biker metal- I don't like theyre newer releases because their metal guitar playing became punk. F that. Punk guitar never goes good with metal, never liked that combo.

-THE RESIDENTS-The commercial album-1980 -don't let the title fool you, quite advanced for 1980,i was 14 and this lp was like a dream come true, cd played today at 2014 at -10% pitch for that extra weirdo effect. 40 1 minute ultra-weird songs with various strange vocals, etectronics, etc, quirky weird songs some are way out there, many with a beat, etc. Just some very best songs, "Easter woman", "Secrets", "Die in terror", "Red rider", "Dimples and toes", "The nameless souls", "Act of being polite", "Tragic bells", "The simple song", "Less not more", "Handful of desire", "Moisture", "Troubled man", "When we were young".

                      • Steven Wilson - Hand. Cannot. Erase
Fantastic album based on the true story of a young woman who withdrew from work, friends and family and totally dropped off the map.....in the middle of London. She was found dead of natural causes 3 YEARS later in her apartment. It's a tale of alienation and loneliness in the social media age.
                        So there... :-)

                        • There was a very good documentary shown 2 years ago at the Hot Docs Festival about this
same woman. Unfortunately , I can't remember the title. Sad but thought provoking account of how someone can basically slowly disappear and not be noticed.

                              • And more early Rush, (recorded in 1979), just amazing-(quite ahead of its time really[and Cygnus X-1 as well])-

                                JACOBS LADDER-

                                https://youtu.be/vvsw_Jq4UcE

AND of course- (just increase bass and treble on all these Rush songs and you pretty well got heavy f'in metal)(recorded in 1978)-

                                CYGNUS X-1 BOOK 2 HEMISPHERES-
