    a very personal issue

The transgender community is made up of all sorts of different people - strikingly different. Sure, we all have things in common. And we usually accept being lumped in together under this category. But SRS is not necessarily the ultimate goal for each and every one of us. On the other hand, as Paula states, it is a life-or-death issue for some of us.

Relationships are very difficult when one half of the couple is in a state of transition. After all, exactly who and what is the partner supposed to love and support, what part is the partner supposed to espouse? It is a very tenuous proposition to say that you will continue to love sand support your partner no matter what you change about yourself.

SRS would count as one of those things that might affect a relationship. I think that it can work but it takes a partner who has a very broad and long view of things.

But all this is a little off-topic. The point I was really trying to emphasize is that you cannot assume that a tgirl wants SRS or does not want it. What makes a good candidate for this surgery is not to be found in the physical world but in the heart and mind of the TG. And it is such a big step that it really should be a decision that the TG makes on their own and in their own good time. That is my opinion. I don't think partners and friends are doing the TG a favor by pushing one way or the other.

Einstein opens the thread by saying that certain girls seem to be good candidates based on how they look. But being a woman or a man has little to do with how they look. How many masculine-looking women have you seen? There are lots. How many feminine-looking men have you seen? There are lots.

Being a TG places someone beyond male and female, not in between. What they are is a matter of their own perception. TGs are already manifesting themselves as unique and courageous. That is enough to get a gold star from me.

Who you or anyone feels is a "candidate" is irrelevant. Every TG's level of "dysphoria" is different. Soem will mutilate themselves they want it gone so bad and some love what they can do with it and keep it. I am ambivalent about my own and hope to get SRS when I can afford to pay for it myself. TG's have to live in a hetero-normative society where plumbing seems to be the factor in whats male or female. But we TG's know that is a social construct, not a hard fact or the truth. We don't need anyones permission to exist or make the changes we desire in ourselves. So if Im not "Femme" enough to be a candidate...who gives a flying F

On Thursday I am flying to Thailand to visit Cake in Bangkok.

She is having her SRS surgery next week and I will be there after she wakes up.
She has never had any doubts about doing it.

I believe she may have the doctor Paula speaks of, because Cake says he is the best doctor in Thailand.
So I sure he is very very good with Thai bodies.

This will be my closest experience with SRS.
(Other than the post-op sleeping on my couch)
I don't have any wrong feelings about it, even though I have not particularily endorsed SRS in the past.
Perhaps when you know it is just natural for the person, it is ok.

          Little bit worried tho.

Great points this is why I created the thread so I could somehow
not try to understand but just get an overall discussion going. I'm
nobody to judge or say who should and shouldn't do anything just
            curious.

            meant no offence to anyone

I don't want to quote your own theories back to you Einstein but let me just say that everything is relative. It has been a good thread and I enjoyed contributing what little I could to it.
