I'm sure she will make her way. . . . . . . . . . can't wait to hear your exciting story in the future. Please let us know
That she left school early was very surprising to me too as I, like you, had been struck by her capacity to express herself so ably. It is quite evident then, that whether she completed her formal education or not, she did absorb what she was exposed to while she was in school. For that I her! Many graduates never aquire that proficiency!

Education and intelligence are mutually exclusive. Everyone who graduates isn't smart....everyone who doesn't isn't dumb. This has turned out to be a very interesting thread...and Fifthace..."give her something for her time" What a bitch!! Right she's somewhere torturing some poor decent man...it just seems to work out that way. Yokomi....if you were bored in school it probably means you have above average intelligence in the first place and they were just boring you to death. Sounds like you're going to do just fine no matter what.

Very true after all there are a lot of people with a collage degree that have trouble finding a job or work for minimal pay or better yet stay in school because they know their parents will pay their tuition and don't want to face the real world. An education is good and can be very rewarding however there guarantees in life.
While no education doesn't necessarily equal failure.A lot of very rich successful. Also a lot kids these day are getting home schooled and doing quite well for themselves.

Move to Europe. North America is much too puritanical for a transsexual singer making it big. While you probably wouldn't win Eurovision anytime soon, moving to a place like Berlin or Amsterdam or Paris or even London, you might find a niche to sustain yourself. Hell, Merrill Nisker never could have sustained herself playing coffeeshops around Toronto, but reinventing herself as Peaches in Berlin and she has a devoted cult following and a comfortable financial situation. Scissor Sisters are way bigger in Europe than in their native America.

If you want to do it and you're serious, the simplest (and also best) advice is to move. Toronto will not cut it. No where in North America would.

Just saw this but it looks like a great thread. I don't know too many people who started out knowing exactly where they would end up and how they would get there. Keep heading in the direction that you think you want to go; but, now is the time to try different things and explore your options. Looks like you have a lot going for you and you seem pretty fearless, which will get you pretty far.

ok as for music and all that stuff having been raised by a musically inclined father and having friends in the industry also having managed a band in my youth (god am i actually getting older lol) I can say it really does not matter if people hear what they like they will like it don't go in with illusions just be true to yourself in what you want. you do not have to chose one or the other unless you don't want the other. you just need to spend time on it and not get suckered in by someone wanting to leech your money. do you have any demos or a stash of writings? ok i just lost my train of thought thinking of your pictures again dam!

get a program like masterwriter it has copy right stuff for your material also great tools if you ever get stuck for a rym or such. it is not that difficult to make a living as a music artist if you keep at it the likelihood of becoming a mega hit are always slim to none for everyone but to get your music out their have people who appreciate it and to earn a living doing all of that is not unrealistic but you cant give up you have to stay at it.

This is a brief clip of a Montr?al TS, Brigitte Martel, who was a famous 11 year old, male, child singing star in Qu?bec whose singing career took a serious dip only because he became a she at 18 years old. She had a wonderful voice. The clip is in French with English subtitles.
I am showing you this clip because it could help you make a choice. When some things become known, it could ruin a performer's image and then ruin the success.
Now, i doubt Brigitte Martel was ever an escort (but who knows).
It was when she had SRS at 18 that her singing career fizzled out and she became a legend only in the trans community in Qu?bec, when she could have possibly had international success had she stayed a boy long enough to have made it big.

Let's look at Lady GaGa, now. When the scandal broke that she is intersexed, it created a lot of buzz.
                            http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DTrb1pCmEwc
Some good, some bad. BUT...she was already famous at that point.

I wonder if she would have still been ?allowed? to become the Lady GaGa we all know and love, if that scandal came out when she was still trying to make it. When i look at Brigitte Martel's story, i wonder about that.

However, let's have a look at Jeffree Star. She seems to be making an impact, but she is rubbing elbows with all the stars i've read somewhere.
                            http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yLBHooqolaw

I disagree, Pam Anderson was famous long before the Tommy Lee sex videos leaked out. Paris
Hilton is a social butterfly who was already a millionaire when she started to generate publicity for herself after she hit the Hollywood scene. She had her own TV show and she got that without doing what you claim she did.
I really kind of doubt that Roseanne Barr was telling folks that she was an escort when she was going for acting auditions. Information like that is something you can admit to once you are a mega star and everyone wants to know every little detail about you. In the end, they will feel sympathy for you and appreciate you more for coming out. BUT only when you've won them over to begin with.

Let's look at Adam Lambert from American Idol. He claims to be gay, but you can clearly see he is a trans who is posing as a gay (in my opinion). http://www.google.ca/images?hl=en&cl...w=1024&bih=578
He is not, yet, ready to come out as a transsexual, i think.
He won't deny that he likes men, sexually, so he claims to be merely a gay male. He is going half way to the media by saying he is gay. I can be 99.9% certain that if Adam Lambert gets international stardom, he will show his feminine side to the media. He won't care at that point ? he'll have his millions to fall back on if society refuses to accept his transsexuality.

Ricky Martin is gay but it took years and years for him to come out. He knew it could damage his career if spilled the beans too soon. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dH6IpkZz2Cg
Now that he is so famous and comfortably rich, he decides to be who he really is, a gay man. And all the girls are going gaga because he is so gay. Go figure!
                            http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gqT8i...eature=related

Sir Elton John is gay but he never openly admitted it to the public in the beginning of his career. He was once in such deep denial, he actually married a GG to appear hetrosexual.

And there are so many other famous gay music men, but, we just don't see them dressed in drag, do we? Well, maybe Freddie Mercury dressed in drag for this video
                            http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eM8Ss28zjcE&feature=fvwrel
but i am sure it was only for a gag and only when he knew he had already made is success and his millions of dollars.
Now let's wonder why he never made a video like this, where he is seen cavorting with gays and transpeople, back in the 1970s when Queen first started out. It's simple, because no one would have wanted to be fans of what he really was and represented.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KbqMD...eature=related He made this video so late in his career and not in the beginning. I guess because he had to become so rich and famous that he couldn't give a crap what his fans thought of the REAL him when he finally ?broke free?. It's easy to break free and to be your real self when you've made millions of dollars to fall back on.

I agree with the age thing to a certain degree. They usually will give contracts to a fresh face because it's untarnished, fresh, pliable/moldable and hungry for success.
However, some older singing performers have become become famous people well into their 40's.
Talent is recognized so long as the performer agrees to conform to what society can swallow at first glance. They don't want some TS up there influencing young impressionable minds. That's a no no!

They want to package acts to be aimed at a demographic. If you are different, well, you have better hide that fact until you've made it big.
Let's consider Billy Tipton, a famous jazz pianist,. He was born a female and lived full time as a male. He became famous as a male. When he finally died, his wife, kids, friends and musical friends all found out he was actually a she. Why would Billy Tipton hide his true identity? Maybe because he would have never made it if he had admitted to really being a transsexual.
                            http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Billy_Tipton

Maybe when you're already famous, but when you are just starting out, bad reviews or bad publicity is the last thing we want. Think about it before you ?Go for it?.
Too many mice just "Go for it!" and they wind up with their necks broken when the metal wire of the trap snaps down.

I sort of agree with the "working very hard" part to "achieve success in the music biz". But as a young ?female? she will probably be targeting the young people as fans because the young grow and remain faithful to their idols for some time.
Let's look at Miley Cyrus and the impact she has had on young girls. Parents were/are freaking out when they see how she is/was influencing their kids, now, with her new ?Can't be Tamed? image. And that is all bubble gum stuff.
What would happen if the media found out that Miley was doing tricks in parked cars in the Disney parking lot?
The paparazzi are all over new and older stars, searching for any
gossip-worthy, private details to leakout to the public.
I agree the world is ready for a tranny performer, but the world doesn't want to be the one routing a tranny on. They will accept it when it's too late and the tranny is already a mega star.
Lagy GaGa came close to being outed, she was asked on national TV talk shows about her ?penis? like it was some sort of laughable joke,
                            http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SMA_qQKd6iY&feature=related
but if society refused her intersexed gender, she would still have her foot in the show biz door and enjoy some continuing success in the LGBT community, and i think that's why she affiliated herself with the LGBT community early in her career - in case all else failed for her (my opinion).

I love Lady Gaga's music, by the way. She is the artist of the age.

I agree that there are more TS's in the media nowadays. Coronation Street has a MtoF TS character, for example.

Even Obama has a TS working in his government.

But let's consider the image of many other trans representations we see in cartoons and movies. Shrek has the ugly step sisters, all trannys with deep voices and i think, hairy, black armhair and 5 O'clock shadows on their faces.
That's how Hollywood portrays us to children. When i saw Shrek, i was touched at how they included trannys into the storyboard, but i was disappointed to see that we are the "freaks" the "ugly step sisters".

Even the "closet case cross-dressing wolf with gender issues" was represented as a sort of a sicko personality.

When we look back at how trans people were presented to the world in movies such as Silence Of The Lambs, Dressed To Kill, and others, it's no wonder we are having a hard time being accepted into the mainstream society as normal, real people.

My advice to you, Yokomi, is be an escort but don't use YOUR look. Wear a wig, change your escort name, wear different make up ? just don't let your escort photos look like the you who walks to the corner store or the you who will step on to a stage to perform music in public. Have all scars or tatoos air brushed out of your escort photos.
                            Best of luck.

I hope you appreciated my opinions,
                            Babe
