As a really independent type of person I prefer not to just find some rich man and leech off of him, I mean, I find absolutely no satisfaction in that. And so what there isn't that many ts in canada.. that doesn't mean there is more men for us - because at the end of the day its hard to find a guy who you can even bond properly with. My main reason for disagreeing with that narrow ass comment is because if it were possible for a post op to get pregnant and have a child as a normally functioning female would then yes I would go for it. I have to agree and wonder why this question is even asked. However, it was asked and both Lola and Meagan have provided answers that are articulate and thoughtful. One line of Lola's post struck me: "my family was not going to sport me on the thing they see as a shame".

Opting to go down the path of transitioning (no matter how far or where that path leads them) takes courage. Lola, Meagan, and many others around here are confident, beautiful and strong women. It is easy to focus on that and miss that there can be some very real and significant sacrifices made by someone in their situation. Family may disown them, friends may not understand, they can have difficulties getting/maintaining mainstream employment, and the health care system pretty much ignores them. They face discrimination in a variety of ways and have little to no recourse to redress this.

I think instead of asking why some of these women choose to become escorts (as an aside, I see problem with them doing so), we should be asking: "Why do we, as a society, make it so damn difficult for transgendered people?". After all, they are simply trying to be who they are.

Personally, I have a ton of respect for people who have their level of courage.
