Just because you read it on the internet, does not mean it is right.

What research have you done to "Mark your words" ?
I will bet you $1000 that you are completely wrong about blackberries.
    (I have it right here)
You are just drinking the Apple kool aid like everyone else.

What is low quality about a black berry, please explain this to me?
They are far tougher than an iphone and other phones from what i have seen.
(Not to mention that an Ipad feels like a piece of paper next to a BB playbook)
Drop an iphone and a BB, chances are the screen will be finished on the iphone the blackberry will just bounce and still work.
The HTC and samsung phones seem pretty flimsy too.
Umm i seem to recall antennae and other issues on the iphones, BB's are technologically sound.
In fact the BB Bold 9900 has almost all the features of an iphone 4 with the added real keyboard.
iphone keyboard is crap and unusable for real typing.

Apple is proprietary and does not support open source standards, they ruin them.
It causes you to pay twice as much for a phone as you should have to and have to buy endless accessories because standard USB and other technologies don't work on Apple products.
They are merely picking your pocket, the telephone companies are already hosing you, why let applet take your first born also.

Apple is not different than companies trying to make the internet not free anymore.
They want to wall off the internet and many free services to make you pay through the nose.
Apple spits in the face of freedom.

Research in Motion builds compatible devices that use standard technologies.
Give apple more money and power and you will be sorry.
So far they are trying to say they own a rectangle with round corners, what next they own circles and squares and stars.

Ask Prem Watsa, one of the richest men in the world and a leading Canadian investor.
(look him up and read what he says)
He is telling everyone to buy Blackberry because it is the future, sorry I will mark his words
Prem Watsa bets his reputation on RIM - The Globe and Mail

BB owns QNX the leading OS for applications in Rockets, nuclear facilities and anything that needs to work flawlessly.
This is the future of BB. Check qnx.com
QNX also runs the GM Onstar system and is going in all new Fords.
What will apple go into? Chryslers? haha

Blackberry is still the only phone secure enough for governments and military.
    Obama uses a blackberry.
Not to mention most Fortune 500 companies, because they have no other options.

    And BB dying?
They have hundreds of millions in the bank and $0 in debt
The only reason they laid off so many is not that they are in trouble, but those people support the old BB phones and are no longer needed. They are positioned well to be the next big thing, for the second time.
In fact they are far better off than when apple almost went under 20 years ago.

Only in North America is BB suffering in sales.
I am in Thailand right now and BB is number one, Nokia is number 2.
Iphones are too expensive for most of the world and cannot get them on cheap plans.
Black berry is number one in Asia period.

I go by the facts, not by Apples media machine.

Working in the cellular industry Blackberry this year has been responsible for about 80% of our service phones. They have had the most problems of any smartphone device that we sell. Problems such as keys falling off (9700, 9780 9900), software issues, hardware issues etc... Funnily enough, Blackberry would not admit any fault in the devices that had such problems even though it is apparent that it was a manufacturing fault.

You talk like I am an Apple fanboy which is also incorrect. I do in fact prefer the Android system. Not just any old Android since not all of them are any good. Acer, LG etc are garbage yet Samsung, some Htc's and some Sony were much better.

Other than overpriced and over-hyped, in my experience (8 years in the industry fyi) Apple still make a quality product. The same could be said for RIM up until this year where everything took a nosedive in terms of quality. Not everyone will experience issues with their Blackberry but a huge percentage of them will.

You have a very valid point about the durability of Iphones and a lot of Androids but at the same time they are not designed to be abused or neccesarily survive drops etc. In fact I would say that the Iphone is the least durable of the lot, with a much greater chance of smashing if it gets dropped. My point is when they are not abused they are very much more reliable than any RIM product just now. And the antenna issues with the Iphone were only in the 4 and were fixed in the 4s. Both the 3G and 3GS had no such issues.

Just in May there, Blackberry still had over $1 Billion worth of unsold stock and you think that they have money and are not in trouble, Seriously!!!!

More and more people each day are switching from Blackberry to Iphone and Android and with no firm release date of any new Blackberry then their market share gets smaller and smaller.

For the record I actually hope that Blackberry does pull itself out the hole they are in and start producing quality handsets again but I do not expect it.

My opinion is that they will not survive and mark my words did have a lol at the end signifying that there was an element of humour attached to that statement.

Blackberry was a major player but things are changing and I doubt very much that Apple or Samsung etc are afraid of BB, considering the market share now.

All in all my opinion (and just that) is that Blackberry will not survive and if they do it will be on a much smaller scale than in the past. My information does not come from just reading things online but from a real life, day to day experience. All your points about Apple being propietary etc are valid but at the same time are the same common arguments people make about buying Apple products so no news there. For every customer that has a great 9900 I have at least another 3 that have had nothing but issues with theirs.

Your arguments are not different than Apple fanboys defending their precious products and yet you are sound like a Blackberry fanboy protecting their precious products. Everyone will have their own opinion and are fully entitiled to them.

On that note, I go by my experience in the industry and facts that are available to those that also work in the industry. I don't fall for the Apple hype or the internet information but by real life experience. I am also unlikely to believe some rich dudes statement since he probably has a vested interest in them and as such of course wants people to not lose hope.

The reality is that noone ever gets all the facts but those directly involved know a hell of a lot more about this than others. I am only speaking for Blackberry quality and declining sales, not for their financial standing or future.

Speaking out my ass!!! I do not think so.

A discussion like this can go round and round and round with Iphone users defending their choice, Blackberry users defending their choice, Android users defending their choice etc.. So I would suspect it would be better at this juncture to agree to disagree.

Hope your having fun in Thailand!!!!

Don't you just love guys who knows their tekkies.

This exchanges of technological expertise is a real turn on for me
But! at the same time screwed up my brain more so than ever before, on whether I'll push thru with the new iPhone or wait for the BB10 early next year according to the link Crag advised me to read. I still have until Thursday if I will cancel my pre-order, they'll re-imburse the $40 anyway.

And I can just go for the month to month plan and not enter in a contract for now using my Sony cellphone, which isn't so bad, is just that it freezes a lot, but you only need to lift the back cover and remove the battery, then put it back then click the on button and viola! it's as good as new

And also my iPod touch4 does everything an iPhone can do except to call, which you can also do on wi-fi using the nettalk feature (outgoing calls only though).

Just to make it clear, I never have anything against BlackBerry, as I haven't had one before, all my friends and family, at least most got an iPhone which prompted me to buy iPod in order to video call with them ( who are living abroad) by using FaceTime. And I am planning to sell my iPod which I bought last boxing day for $229.00, so probably would sell only $100 by now, at least it'll offset the new Apple product if I finally decide, a decision which is getting harder everyday in part due to reading this exchanges of views hahaha

I am not an Apple products fan really, and I never patronize their kool aid (I thought they're into electronics only) I didn't even know they produced that drink, no one in our household drink that anyway ('coz, diabetes runs in our family).

Have fun with it Lani! I'm sure you'll be happy with it for years to come!

I missed to acknowledge this one.

I sure will have fun with it Locomotion, if I ever have it , so far I'm still contemplating, got until Thursday to make up my mind.

Thanks Locomotion, I'll update you if I have it in my hands.

Hey Lani ... bottom line is just get whatever makes you happy. For me, it's everything Apple ... for Crag it's everything RIM.

As long as it works for YOU and makes YOU happy is all that really matters! Cheers!

What about an android? The new Samsung Galaxy S3 is pretty sick. I use a motrola atrix 2. It's a 4G phone with a 8.1MP camera, 16GB, a HDMI out, and my favorite...Fingerprint Recognition security. Can't get into the phone without my fingerprint. It also has a Lapdock extension. What that is, a laptop that runs off your cell phone. I find it super useful on the road as I travel with less wires and all my information is on one place.

Really those are your options for phones:

            Blackberry
            Iphone
            Android

Each has it's advantages and disadvantages. I have used all three. I didn't really like the BB. I loved the Iphone. Easy to use, so many options, jailbreaking it just makes it that much better! But I married my Android. We can all argue which is better, but in the end...find out what is important to you. Handset security is very important to me to help protect client discretion and privacy. Therefore the Fingerprint Recognition was a feature I loved. Find out what is important to you and make a choice based on what you need, want you want, and what you are willing to pay.

                Thanks Ms Shyla!.

I was in the mall a few minutes ago and inquire about this Motorola Atrix 4g, but it seems only Bell is the only carrier of this phone as of now, and I swore that I'll never again deal with that company. Although this Motorola is quite an impressive mobile gadget that I have seen, very thin and the back is cool!.

For now, as I'am keeping my options open until Thursday, I have talked to some friends, old acquaintance, relatives, who may be wanting to upgrade their iPhone4 or 4S for the iPhone5, if they would just sell their 4 or 4S to me for a reasonable price, then I'll just buy it cash so I don't need to sign up and be tied for 3 years contract, and I could just get a simple plan with a minimal data monthly. I'm not really a tekky person and I don't need or dying to have whichever is the latest, it so happens that I need a good working phone and if I have to sign up and be committed for that long period of time and pay a monthly bill for the same amount, I might as well get the new one. Though I really preferred the iPhone for now, either the 4 or 4S. One friend is selling me his iPhone3g very cheap though, but it's obsolete and no FaceTime hehehe, I said thanks but no thanks lol!

You don't have to use Bell. Mine is unlocked and the phone will downgrade to the Network. Meaning 3G if that is the Max. I ordered mine VIA ebay. Finding one in Canada is VERY difficult. Even finding someone that ships an Atrix 2 to Canada was not easy.

Very well put!! If I had the choice it would be the Galaxy S3 over everything else however whether you pick an Android or an Iphone you will be happy with your choice.

The main thing is not to stress yourself out too much over which one to get as this is supposed to be fun. If your gut tells you Iphone then get the Iphone.. This is supposed to be an exciting purchase not a stressful one.

Besides, come next year if all works out with BB10 and you regret your choice you can always upgrade again (just have to pay your phone off first) and sell your device to pay for your new one. Of course, the Galaxy S4 will also be coming out in Feb apparently lol

They remodelled the blackberry and now have people clamouring for the slightest upgrade.
Iphone 5 will not provide much more than esoteric updates that are not worth spending that much money.
Apple invented Itunes but Blackberry invented the App store.

Apple makes up to $300 per unit on the backs of child labour in China.
This is part of the problem with the USA and the recession right now.
The number one product the USA produces is not made in the USA at all, fucking rude if you ask me.
This is all true, except Blackberry didn't invent 'the app store'. There was Click-n-Run before it, and 'apt' by Debian Linux much, much before but essentially the same thing: users make packages, upload them into centralized repository for 'one click' installation.

They also didn't rip Blackberry for the design, they ripped off Sony back in 2006
                                http://allthingsd.com/20120726/apple...-says-samsung/

So Apple improves the blackberry then does everything it can to sink research in motion.
they have a 24 hour a day media campaign to put Blackberry out of business.
Sick, they cannot compete straight up and they know it.

Truly Blackberry is who they are really scared of, not android, samsung or anyone else truly.
They have these new threats under control.
Android is now the most used operating system on earth beating microsoft, all linux distros and iOS *combined*, with India and China almost exclusively using Android smartphones now for privacy and cost reasons. It's open source, so anybody can manufacture a phone, modify Android and release their own product for half the price of an Iphone 5 but with identical hardware. Every single university and tech school on this planet exclusively deals with Android in class because they don't have to pay licensing to Apple or Microsoft or Blackberry. Every future computer science and engineering graduate now has an indepth knowledge of Android and are using it to create their own open source and even better free smartphone systems, or contributing back to the Android project.

Blackberry holds endless patents and owns qnx systems which is the future of wireless communications.
                                look at qnx.com
It is in fighter jets and nuclear weapons, even the space station and shuttles.
                                Apple has nothing on this.
The best thing Apple did was invent the Personal Computer in 1977.
                                qnx patents are now worthless.

This is the future: http://www.technologyreview.com/arti...ier-transform/ and MIT released the code and math proofs for free, nobody can patent it. This is a serious breakthrough, not a patent that just fiddles with the regular fourier transform trying to squeeze some more life out of it.

My advice would be to import a Chinese Android phone like Meizu for around $300-400 http://en.meizu.com/
They're already unlocked and can use on any carrier here. If secure privacy is your concern, then you want to use Android apps like TextSecure and Redphone encrypted voice (for free) not trusting closed source backdoors. Can also have total control over the Android OS to weed out any bloatware, create a custom version for yourself and disable security issues like Near Field Communications and GPS. You have to illegally jailbreak/root the Iphone to modify it, same with Blackberry.

I doubt Blackberry is very much Canadian anymore either, Microsoft just signed a deal so all their future operating systems are Windows 8.
