Boston is Toronto's fault. First you trade them the core of their team...then you LET them win game seven. If they win the cup, I will hold the Maple Leafs responsible for this whole mess.
If the Bruins win the cup again, I'm going to start thinking that maybe it was better if the season was cancelled because of the lockout.
Fuck I hate the Bruins.
And BTW: The Leafs didn't get past the Bruins. Remember....The Bruins walked over the Rangers...not you. The Rangers had little problems dealing with Washington. A team you probably couldn't keep up with. In the end, you could not get past the first round. Assuming your team would have had the same success as a team as deep as a Bruins is laughable. The fact is this. The Bruins had you down 3 games to 1. They let up and let you back in. A good team doesn't blow a 3 goal lead with 10 minutes left in the third. The intensity the Leafs showed in games 5 and 6 could not be maintained throughout the playoffs. Even if you handled the Rangers...in the end you would face the Pens. And if you think the Pens are tired, could you imagine the Leafs and their lack of dept at this point? You would have two tired teams facing each other. Remember how Phaneuf looked in those last 10 minutes? He was overplayed and burnt out as the Leafs have no one else to fill his role.
The playoffs are never smooth sailing....as a Leaf's fan, you should know this more than anyone.
So much to say. LOL. Isn't it funny that the most fun I have debating hockey is on Tgirl Forums. LOL.
My memory is so bad, how many playoff games did Montreal win? Weren't they in second place and lost to the 7th place team. Ya, they sure did better than the Leafs this year. (sarcasm) Habs fans are remarkably biased. Being biased about the Leafs is understandable, but sometimes you need to call a spade a spade. Habs had a meltdown, Leafs had a worse meltdown, but they played WAY better in the playoffs than the Habs. I'd love to see how that HUGE Montreal team would have done against the Bruins in playoffs where the whistles are put away.
From what I saw at the beginning of the season, both Toronto and Montreal had remarkable seasons with the teams they had.
Now it's either one way or the other, you can blame the Leafs if Boston wins the cup, because you know the Leafs should have won that series, or you can say Boston let Toronto come back, and Boston had it the whole way. You can't have it both ways. Well, then again, it's a hockey debate, you can have it any way you want. LOL
Thinking the Leafs should not have won the Boston series is just sad. Teams often come back from being down by 3 games. Sure they screwed it up, (thankfully for Habs fans) but to make it sound like Boston played better is ridiculous. Did you see the non-calls in that last game? It was a one sided "free for all". I hate to be the one to bring it up, but their is a political reason Boston has gone so far, timing when the city needed it. (Yes, I said it) If you know anything about human nature, you know deep down people wanted to help that city. I'm confident that transferred to the league and the refs.
I'm pretty sure we played well against the Rangers all year. We never would have met Washington so no real need to bring it up. I agree we likely would not have gotten by Pittsburgh, but who knows, they have no goalie with confidence. That is everything. Boston sure seems to have their number.
The Leafs depth is a concern, but it was all year. And they kept surprising EVERYONE all year. I think they have a bright future. I have to think somebody was there that could have done better than an exhausted Phaneuf. That was a coaching error. Likely Phaneuf's error too, saying he was fine. I suspect his conditioning is a problem. Personally I used to think he was overrated, since being with the Leafs, I don't even rate him, I think he SUCKS. He's good as a defensive defenseman, but he seems to believe otherwise.
I guess if being deep means your team is big and tough, you know how to break rules and you don't need finesse or class means you are deep, then Boston is deep. I agree they can actually be deep, and they may be showing it now that they have 2 lines firing, but they have really only had one line at at time playing well. Seems to be the same with all the teams lately. I imagine the team to win will have two lines scoring and good goal tending. It will be that easy this year. Once again the Bruins will prove that if you know how to break the rules just enough, you can win a cup. That is their true advantage. Trust me, I want someone to beat them so bad.
OK, shoe on the other foot, Montreal comes back from being down 3-1, loses to Ottawa by a goal (with say 4 obvious missed penalties in the last 10 minutes). Ottawa goes on to win the cup. Do you really believe Habs fans would not think they were close?
Oh, I forgot, Habs fans only concern is to win a cup. It's been 20 years in case your counting. (No need to remind me about the Leafs. LOL.) But 20 years is pretty damn long too.
All I can say is I really want L.A. to win, but I think the East has it this year. I hope I am wrong.
Pittsburgh tries harder, can't score.
Tuka is AMAZING.
Refs actually give Boston some penalties in an effort to give Penguins a chance.
Boston sucks when they think penalties are actually being called. (Why does Tyler Seguin not get any ice time?)
Refs put away whistles for overtime
Lucic hits at least 2 guys from behind and gets away with it. (I hate that guy)
Both Boston and Pittsburgh get away with many non calls. Unfortunately, the last one causes the winning goal.
Pittsburgh just isn't as tough as Boston.
Boston will be in the finals no doubt.
I just hope L.A. or Chicago are up to it.

We walked all over Boston in the regular season and had their number...

We had a goal kicked in....bad calls happen. And no, you did not deserve to win that series. You were outmatched. Down 3-1 in a series...comebacks happen. To blow a 3 goal lead in game seven with 10 minutes left...lack of goaltending, defense, leadship...etc. I have no delusions that my Habs would not go far. In fact, starting the season I picked them to miss the payoffs. Just like the Leafs...to think either of them would go anywhere in the playoffs is crazy. Your got beat by a stronger team. They are a better team to to bottom. Their goaltending is stronger, defense (they have Chara and Hamilton), and up front...Horton, Bergeron, Lucic, Krejci, Marchant are better than you top 5.
I'm pretty sure we played well against the Rangers all year. ...............EVERYTHING HERE IS JUST LEAFS FANS TRYING TO MAKE IT SEEM BETTER THAN IT REALLY IS. That is their true advantage. Trust me, I want someone to beat them so bad.

The Last time the Bruins won the cup we took them to seven. They were down 2-0 in the series won 3 games in OT....did you hear us say we were close?

From a team with a 44 year drought and a 7 year playoff drought that just ended, I don't think other teams suffering should be your worry.
Seriously, you have to remember something about this season, with all the stuff that happens, all the could have beens and should have beens...ten years from now all people will remember is who won the cup. That's it. And that the Leafs blew a 3 goal lead in game 7 with 10 minutes left....lol

Come on, that is just wrong. Its just hockey. No need to bring to bring politics into it. Beyond being a possible motivational factor for the Bruins based on seeing how easily everything in life can be taken away, the bombing has no potential influence over the outcome of games. Refs always swallow their whistles come playoff time and that's how it should be. The leafs lost because they don't yet know how to win in the playoffs. They are a young team and can only get better, and will. At least they made the postseason for once.
We at least agreed that the Leafs and Habs did better than we imagined at the beginning. It may have been our last playoff for some time. We always play well in the first half season, since it was only a half season..........
It's just sad that teams have to learn to bend (break) the rules in order to win the playoffs. And that what was called all season, is no longer a penalty. Boston became very "average" once penalties were being called. But they still won, (by another none call). Seabrook nailed someone from behind last night too. I guess Shanahan puts his rule book away too.
Is there any other sport where the rules change this much in the playoffs? Linesmen really don't miss much, why are the refs so bad? Because their told what to call, who to call it against and when to call it. They always find a penalty against winning teams don't they. Coincidence? Make it exciting for the fans?
Bottom line is, every team I cheered for (except the Habs) has pretty much lost. I guess I should cheer for Boston.
And to the person that thinks it is not about politics, what team needs it most, what city needs it most etc, keep dreaming. If the league thinks you deserve a chance at it, they'll do what they can to give you that chance. Odds will be in your favor but you still have to make it happen. (Vancouver could not make it happen) It takes a great team to change that. I remember last time Bruins won the cup, I think it was the semi finals, Game 7, Tampa and Boston, Bruins didn't get one penalty all game. That was hilarious and obvious.
This is likely a wasted damn season. C'mon Chicago (I may have just put the hex on them)
