  • The trip back

My trip back this time was very good. ANA airlines upgraded me to business class which doesn't usually happen. Because i have Star Alliance status on Air Canada, I am in line for upgrades on other airlines before most economy passengers. So i had a great seat and some great food for my flight from Bangkok to Tokyo. Also this gave me access to the Thai airlines lounge which are some of the best. Also business class got me access to the priority gate at Bangkok airport which got me able to go through a private immigration and security only for VIPs, only taking minutes to clear both.

    • Then finally on my flight from Tokyo to Vancouver i was already booked in Business class. While I was waiting in Tokyo I relaxed in the ANA lounge. However when i landed i really needed to shave so i started checking the stores in the airport for some disposable razors. They all said they didn't sell them for security reasons. Then i go into the ANA lounge and ask the lady at the desk if they have disposable razors and right away she gets me some and shaving cream to boot, what a waste of time in the airport. Anyway I boarded my business class flight to Vancouver where i had a great dinner and after i woke up, a breakfast just before we landed. Then in the Air Canada lounge in Vancouver I had a shower before my cramped commuter flight to my home town. All of this really helps reduce jet lag.

        • Well I have been partying alot to this point and it is only November 5!

Time to take a break from the heavy partying.

This was an interesting day in Pattaya as police shot a armed suspect on Soi 8. Then I also found out that a guy jumped from the 27th floor of our Condo building into the pool area. I was staying on the 22nd floor but never heard anything about it as it is a very large building. Anyway everything was on the internet on Youtube as is the style these days, so i didn't miss anything.

So Massy and I just hang out and take it easy. We go over to King's bar to pay her daily bar fine of $300 baht.
There I have one or two beer then we get something to eat before going back to the condo.
The next day was a big party in Pattaya called Loy Kratong, the festival of lights.
Here is a pic i took at the bar and a couple selfies Massy took in our room.

          • Loy Kratong

So now it is November 6 and it is Loy Kratong. All the bars are gearing up and all the ladies are dressing up in traditional outfits.
This is the traditional festival of lights where everyone comes to Pattaya beach to party and light candles, fireworks and lanterns.

All night people were sending up thousands of the paper lanterns. You light the candle inside the paper lantern making it float up into the air until it finally runs out of oxygen. Thailand isn't often super windy so it may not work in Canada.
A few times it seemed some of the lanterns were going to float into my balcony where I took most of these pics.
This was the scene most of the night.

            • So during the day massy and I went and got our Ceremonial floating candles. Inside these we put a bit of skin, a strand of hair and 10 baht in each one. (the thousand baht is just for effect).
So after dinner and stuff we went down to the beach and lit the candles, then Massey took them into the water and floated them of into the bay as a tribute to Buddha. Shortly a bunch of thais came and grabbed our ornaments. I was wondering what they were doing but soon realized they were waiting in the water to take all the money out of them. No police to be seen anywhere.

Then we headed over to Sailor bar on Soi 8 for some dinner and drinks.
Sailor bar has great food and is open 24 hours a day. Beer is always about 60 baht ($1.70)

Before we went down to the beach to float the hearts we stopped at a great bar on Soi 7.
There is many ladyboys going around taking pictures with everyone dressed up in their Thai traditional wear.
Also most of the staff was dressed up as well, really fun place wish I could remember the name.

              • So after we float our hearts we head back to Kings Bar to party a bit more.
A Ladyboy from England is partying with us all most of the night.

Later Massy says it is ok to bring a friend along back to the room for a treat for me.
So off I go for a Loy Kratong Threesome. (I sure wish i could remember her name now)

Have you ever ravelled first class vs business class and if so, what is the difference?
Air Canada only has one premium class and it is called "Executive First".
I have never flown true first class but I think Air Canada's is a hybrid of business and first class.

I have been on a few flights with first and business also. These were all on 747s.
Usually the first class will be upstairs on 747s with a lounge and bar often. More recently some are actual private suites on the bigger airlines.
Business is usually lots of leg room with extra reclining seat and free premium food, beverages and entertainment but you never will get a private pod or booth on true business class.

Thailand makes it easy to do this!

                                Massy is a cutie though.
