    Proposed prostitution legisation

I have had a chance to review the proposed/tabled legislation. I believe it may not survive a SCC challenge, but the devil will be in the details. It would also be up to years before there could be a challenge ruling, so for better or worse it's coming.

Clearly the target of enforcement will shift from the SP to the client (Nordic model) but also to the context of the messaging and even the location between the participants. Accordingly there should be a behavioural and process shift in how business is conducted to avoid blatant contravention...and a shit load of attention.

Based on what I have seen so far I firmly believe there is a way to adjust business processes so there is minimal impact and risk comparative to the current state, but, there could be a very sudden and aggressive shift in terms of enforcement.

The messaging portion of the legislation is easy to deal with but my first question would be, how are SPs and clients coping in Sweden? That is the place to start.

I am returning to Canada soon and will look at the specifics, but I would be interested to know everyones thoughts since changes will need to be thought through, understood, and communicated out before the legislation is passed and becomes law.

I'm sure there will be challenges in court since this is worse than the last law.

As i say, those ladies should have just left the law alone.
Nobody was really enforcing anything much.
As everything was moving to the internet and off the streets, it seemed safety was improving on it's own.

I am hoping these lovely ladies are going to be there to fix this mess.
Some of them just like looked like they were doing it for the fun of getting on TV.

I totally forgot about the majority govt. This is absolute bs, we'll be degenerating to the US model soon, clients' faces being shown in the newspapers for solicitation

          On the Up side

On the upside guys who inform themselves through various escort boards/forums like this one have an advantage by booking
appointments with well known and reviewed escorts rather than ones no one has heard of and therefore a higher risk to being "stung"
in a vice sting operation targeting johns. Will be harder for new girls to get started for the same reasons.

It is definitely an unfair law to make the clients actions illegal while maintaining that the sex worker is doing nothing illegal makes no sense! I can see a law making it illegal for pimping and any form of forced or coerced involvement in the sex trade by any individual or organized crime only.

The comment by Minister Peter McKay that really angered me was when he referred to customers as "perverts". Does that fucking idiot not realize that half of the MPs in the House of Commons are probably seeing escorts on a regular basis.
