Good call! Who else you got so I can bet against them?
Don't get me wrong I do cheer for the Habs as long as Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Toronto or Ottawa are not in the playoffs .
Montreal definitely were a dominant force when there were only 6 teams in the NHL and did ok when there were 12. But in the current NHL universe their last win was in 1993 that's 21 years ago! But would be great to see them have a deep run this year

Considering that no team has own from Canada since the Habs, it must really suck backing a loser every year. And 7 of our cups were after expansion...also more than everyone.

Q: How many Habs fans does it take to change a light bulb?
A: 20,000, one to change the bulb and 19,999 to reminisce about how good the old bulbs were.

        Ha ha

But i do know that Montreal has always had a great team, IN THE PAST, who has won that grey goblet cup more times than any other team in hockey history. Often times, winning it many years in a row.

I will admit that i will sit down and watch one hockey game per year but that game will only be the final game in the contest and ONLY if Montreal plays.
Otherwise, i'd rather do some sewing.

You don't grow up in my city, with such an awesome hockey history without knowing about the Montreal Canucks.
Heck, i can hear my neighbors screaming through the walls of my apartment during every game in the season. You'd think they've just won the lottery.

So if Montreal, gets to play for the cup, i'll check it out as i normally do IF Montreal plays. THAT is an event.

Every other game in the season bores me right to death.

            Hmmm let's see Vancouver Canucks lost to the NY Rangers in Game 7 -1994; Calgary Flames lost in Game 7 to Tampa Bay -2004;
Edmonton Oilers lost in Game 7 to Carolina Hurricanes-2006; Vancouver Canucks lost in Game 7 to Boston Bruins-2011
I would say there is a big difference between taking 2nd place in the Stanley Cup in Game 7 and being a losing team

Edmonton Oilers won 5 Stanley Cups in 7 years 1984-1990, Calgary won one -1989 and Montreal won one-1986.

But Montreal is in the running this year so best of luck to them!

As long as the Leafs are around, Habs fans will always be able to look at 20 years, 30 years, 40 years like it was just yesterday.

And as long as rookie French Canadian refs are calling penalties in tie games with 2 minutes left, Habs should have a very deep run. Montreal hockey is resembling Euopean soccer. Who can DIVE the best.

I guess you don't count 1993 as a cup win for MONREAL

As an ex player and official at a relatively high level, I learned one very important thing. That there will always be questionable calls, there will always be a difference in opinions as it is in any sport that is officiated by people. When a team is more concerned about officiating than playing, their success rate will be very low. They are supposed to be professionals that understand this, yet, emotions can be can be a difficult thing to control.
This series was pretty easy to call as the Habs have the depth that the Bolts didn't. When the Bruins finally dispose of the Red Wings, their depth should match that of the Habs and will make for a very interesting series. To show that there is no biased opinion here, I think my Flyers may be teeing it up here very shortly

Lol....MONTREAL 93. Last Canadian Team to win the Cup. Losing in the finals and getting second place means nothing. No one cares. Second place is a polite way to say, "You are the first to lose".

Like I Said before, we the Habs have not won in 20 years but....

                    Edmonton 23 years.

                    Toronto 41 years.

                    Vancouver, Winnipeg.....Never.

Maybe my teams hasn't won in a while, but neither has anyone else.

So year after year, games were played but not enough to win hockey's holy grail. The Senators were not even in the game for the longest time.
Trust me, I know who the biggest loser is. And it's not Ottawa. But when the LEAFS win the cup in the next 5 years (you heard it here first) it's going to be that much sweeter.

And I hate to say it, but I want Boston to beat Montreal. I have way too many friends in Quebec that are going to rub it in. Montreal always seems to do well against Boston. If the refs have their whistles out, Montreal has a good chance.

I watched a game against Detroit and I have to say there was not one shift where I did not see a penalty that should have been called against Boston. When you break the rules that much, you'll surely get away with 98% of them.

I know what a Maple Leaf is.
I know what a Canadian and a Canuck is.
Penguins, Black Hawks, Oliers, Vikings, Red Skins, Ravens, Bolts, Pirates, Rough Riders, check to all those - i know what things, animals, and/or Aboriginal Peoples they are named after for hockey teams.

But what in heck is a Bruin? Is a bruin an animal, a bird, fish, some sort of thing that guys use to do construction?

Oh, i am sure many sports nerds are gonna start knocking the Boston Bruins seeing as this is an opportunity. But seriously, what is a "bruin"?
I just did a little google search and i gotta tell ya, i didn't find much insomuch as a real definition of what a "bruin" is - they just refer to the team or a guy with the family name, Bruin.

                          Any comments, rider?

                          Thank you, sweety.
