It?s time for this forum to get back to basics!

Since it?s inception about 10 years ago this forum has become probably, one of, if not the very best, sources of t-girl information in the country. It?s name, T-Girlforums implies quite clearly that it is a unique forum, a forum concerned with T-girls, where discussion about T-girls and matters related to T-Girls could be found. Over it?s life so far, this forum has become the best and most inclusive source of information about T-girls in this country!

It?s name is not suggestive in any way of this forum being just another generic or open forum where posts about matters of any kind are welcome. Because a trend of late to there being many threads and postings of material not even vaguely related to T-girls, I have some concern that this forum may be in danger of becoming less and less the standard that it has become over it?s first 10 years of existence.

Because of it?s name, when someone first visits this forum then, they almost certainly do so with the reasonable expectation of finding information about T-girls and topics related to T-girls! That being the case then, it is only natural for any visitors to also expect that threads posted within this forum would also have some real connection to T-girls, including amongst them such topics as commonly already exist in it?s present iteration: service, pricing, transition, reviews, escorting or any other topic that might logically be related to T-girls, even if the connection is ever so slight.

Unfortunately, of late, more and more threads and posts have been completely unrelated to T-girls and it is my contention that if such thoughtless, inconsiderate postings continue to increase in frequency I foresee a problem arising in the future where the abundance of such unrelated postings could tend to defeat the initial purpose of this forum and lead to it?s irrelevance as the prime source of T-girl information and ultimately be responsible for it?s decline and eventual demise.

That would be a terrible loss to everyone in the community!

To forestall that potential tragedy from happening perhaps something could/should be done to limit or prevent so many totally unrelated materials from being posted in either new or in existing threads whether they be new material or additions to already present posts. Some of these entries do get a lot of traffic which may be advantageou$ to the forum in one sense, but such useless entries are not supportive of the cause, and IMHO their presence actually subjugates the original principle upon which this forum was begun - the betterment of the girls of this community and their followers!

Not really sure what you're referring to. Pretty much every successful forum has a general chat area, and even still the vast majority of posts are on-topic. Hell, I'd actually argue that more general postings would be nice just to break up the mind-numbing monotony of "what random men think they know about trans women" etc.

Maybe more movie threads. More movie threads would be sweet.

I would be more than happy if someone started a crochet thread.
To some people crocheting is one of the most interesting things around, just not you.
Some might find tgirls and crocheting together the hottest thing they have ever heard of.
Even if it just one person, let them have their fun.

What I was principally concerned with was the possibility of there being, as time goes on, of a lot more of the same kind of inconsequential material being posted in the forum. I believe that prevention of it appearing now would be far easier and better than trying to cure it later!

BTW, while you may be in favour of adding a crocheting thread, actually it was tatting that I had suggested. Similar end result, but requires a shuttle(?) rather than a hook. I grew up with three sisters who all tatted endlessly as well as crotched at times. Personally, I prefer to tit rather than tat!

Boys, the world is not black and white. There is a lot of grey in between. I don't think there is a problem with the forum. Moreover, there is more a issue with the way some of us use the forum. Sometimes efforts are misguided. Toban dislikes some of the endless posts by some users. I don't really believe that is the true problem. The problem is the behaviour regarding these threads. The behaviour is narcissistic, egotistical and rude. I understand this part....why post a thread concerning what you are listening to when a global one already exists? Why not post in the original and spice and add life to it?

We all have to understand that not everyone has the panache or tact to express themselves without coming off aggressively on the internet. Shaking your finger at others when they express they opinions and arguments will earn you little respect and much ire.

Social backlash happens when someone does not follow the flow. At that point the person must make a decision. Assimilate or leave....

For example, Shyla post a topic about Rob Ford.
Shyla is a tgirl so why is it not proper for her to post about Rob Ford.

Well, there's no use tippytoing around it ... Like Mr. Toban mentioned here it all boils down to one rude, out of control narcissistic member who was treating the forum like her own personal Facebook page, with daily posts & threads that were supposedly written in stone ... any contradicting viewpoints to hers were shot down with extreme prejudice.

The forum is fine as is ... the odd random, off topic thread or post once in a while is fine with me and I'm sure most everyone here.

The occasional drama can be fun to read too

But the bottom line is: treat others with respect, and you will get the same in return.

I can agree with that, Shyla! The source of the problem as I saw it was the disregard of one individual for the interests of the whole community. It was, in this particular situation, that one person had, for their own selfaggrandizement, attempted to commandeer the space meant to be enjoyed by all members.

That would mean that it should include discussions, photos, movies, and all things related to the transexual field! Love you to Toban, but have to agree with Crag.

And Crag, why not add a simple "LOUNGE" where anything goes, if you take a look at Terb's, the views and topics are many, and the "LOUNGE" itself brings in many type of people, some of who never go to the review section, or even post there.

Then my friend, you should be very easily see the obvious. There was no true problem with the forum. 99.9% of our members respect each other enough not to do that.

Look at some of the girls that post here, Fantasia, Lola, Tia, Lucy, Jane, Alexis, Sunshine, Vanessa Bell and Myself. None of these girls abuse this forum. Do we self promote? Of course...

This is not a blog nor is it a Facebook page. Locomotion was right. But Crag is also right. We are free to post what we like.

We all have to remember that we have freedom of speech and expression. Some people chose to exercise their right to this. Yet when others commented on their posts or threads they were met with a very closed minded views. I rarely start threads, preferring just to add to existing threads. Two threads I have started, my hockey pool and the rob ford thread were both well received...or so it seems. To say the board should only be tgirl topics would be a slippery slope. What gives me the right to post what I want but not others? Many topics effect the trans community, and having our views on different things must be interesting for the pooners...no? I understand both Tobans and Locomotions views..I even agree with certain parts of it. But just like some exercised their Freedom of Speech, I also exercised my Freedom not to listen. I agree people shouldn't be using the forums as their own personal facebook or twitter.
There is blogs and profiles where they can post their personal stuff.

The forum has everything it had before and maybe has more general post than before.
Why would you stop coming here because there is a few posts that you are not interested in but everything else that you are.
Not one thing has been taken away from the forum at all.

If you are saying one or two people are really annoying you, then say that.

Mr. Toban, you are one of few people here whom I truly value what they write. I can understand what you are trying to refer to especially in your follow-up posts as your initial thread was somehow less specific. I am believer of nature as a healer and things would naturally auto-adjust itself at least on the long run.

There are many things which I might not necessarily like, but as long as they are not directed at me personally or carry a generalized racist or hate views, then I am naturally tolerant. What you did in this thread is part of the natural healing process, you came up with a message and I am quite confident that your message was heard.

I can also relate to Crag position, because moderating a forum like this is a big headache by nature and it would be impossible to draw the line except in very clear cases.
