The way I see this whole STI conversation, is we can approach it like we do with anything else in life with risk. Take the best precautions and make our decisions to the best of our ability, and get out and live life. Or, we can stay home and not venture out and thus eliminate any risk. This can be applied to sex, travel, airplanes, driving, drinking, falling in love, you name it. Is STI Risk worse than daily smoking? The list of things that are risky is endless. Life is danger , life is risk, most of us get through these experiences in one piece and are better for the memories and experiences (both good and bad, bad experiences can grow us as people too).

Taking risk and "being reckless" are very different. Many people mold them together into the same thing and worry too much while life passes them by.
