That sucks....last year Ottawa was a shitshow. This year, it?s you. Sorry dude, last year too many players had career years. Hard to ask them to constantly do better.

Habs need a new coach! The players have tuned him out. The biggest problem with the habs is the need to have a French coach to appease the media or it's simply French arrogance. Your guess is as good as mine. Maybe Shyla can shed some light. If that's the case, Guy "Scarface" Boucher is available, but I still don't think he'd be the answer. He's been known to provide some initial relief only to have the players tune him out after a season. I think you need to step outside the box and hire a big-name coach, regardless of the language he speaks. And Price is playing like shit regardless of the 'big save' he made last night. He should have stopped three of those goals. Great goaltenders steal wins for you and Price has done that often but not lately. He's allowed eleven goals on the last 45 shots. All players need to step it up or a coach is gone, which should happen regardless.

Off topic, PK Subban is still a non-producing, $9 million waste of space. Always has been overrated and now he's proving it more each game.
I will tell you a story. Hockey and the NHL don?t need or want the Montreal Canadiens or Toronto Maple Leafs past the first round in the playoffs. These two teams make the most amount of money along with the Rangers. Followed by the Blackhawks etc...

The CBA(if you don?t understand the CBA then you do not understand hockey) says that NHL playoff teams must share 35% of gate receipts. Therefore, since the big teams always make money and you are sharing gate REVENUE not PROFIT there is a reason certain teams don?t make the playoffs. Teams like Florida for example will always be a fringe playoff team because it is not profitable for them to share 35% of gate receipts. In fact, it?s better to be out of the playoffs and collect 35% of everyone?s revenue.

Last year I watched a game late in the Season between Montreal and Carolina with Carolina being the home team. Carolina had a 5$ lower bowl sale promotion! I guarantee to you that Carolina is a team that receives in the NHL?s profit sharing also. Think about it! Montreal and Toronto fans pay 200$ plus so some team that can?t fill their arena can sell tickets for 5$?!?!? Go fuck yourself. With a pineapple...

As for the Habs Coach....I am a Habs fan. If I owed the habs, I would have a media relations guy to talk to the media. I believe in the best man for the job. Not the best French speaking man for the job. In a way....I understand. But the Habs have not won since 93? when they had both a French speaking captain and Coach. Maybe it?s time to do things differently. But the media will destroy an English speaking coach. There is a reason the habs have hired Therrien and Julien twice.

As for PK Subban, he was never worth that money. At the time of the trade I did not understand this....now I do. Weber brings certain things (Leadership, Toughness, grit, and being mean) that Subban does not. Weber is worth his 7.8million cap hit. Subban is an offensive defenseman with a short shelf life. These guys are done by their early 30s where guys like Weber can play into their late 30s. Subban has a great shot....but Weber has a scarier shot.

That's how competitive things are this year. Right now, to center out two teams as not making the playoffs is a bold statement
but that?s what the NHL wants. It doesn?t want a dynasty.

Great thread. Let's get a few things straight. The habs have no chance to win the division. Playoffs unlikely but possible. Probably could get good odds on that one. The leafs are definitely making the playoffs now that the hated coach is gone. Cherry is long past his best before date and as was rightly pointed out he blew it in 1979 because he can't count. And say what you want about the PM, the conservatives don't even like their own leader either so what did you expect Canadians to do.

Well, the Leafs are going to have to do it based on playing crappy teams all the time. They never beat anyone good. Early on they beat Boston, that?s it and they had two flukey goals in that game. Also they have a serious backup goalie issue. Montreal weren?t supposed to be good this year anyway, but they had a good start. We?ll see I suppose. I?m still predicting neither makes the playoffs.

Um... actually the habs were supposed to be better based on last season (the season they weren't supposed to be good) and predicated to grab a wildcard. I'd fire the coach and get them back on track for that. As far as your assessment of the Leafs, then you're saying that they Leafs will only beat the bottom five teams in the league because, as I stated, there are 26 teams with .500 or better records which means all of them can win playing any team. You focusing on one game against Boston is minimal support at best to your case. However, I do agree they have the worst back up goaltending issue out of any team.

Leafs just got spanked by Philly 6-1. They?re garbage. Habs missed the playoffs last year, and yes they were better than expected, but still didn?t make the playoffs. Good win against the islanders tonight though

Just had to bring this thread back to life. Leafs are undefeated in 8. Back to 2nd place. Playing more exciting hockey than any other team in the league. As I said before, the ex-coach was the problem. I'm sure I'll hear now how they can never win in the playoffs playing that style. We'll just have to wait and see. But at least they will be playing unlike some other teams
