I would agree that there are outside entities of other nationalities ( but not always) who take advantage of the situation in Pattaya and other areas of Thailand ( and the world as well) and have taken the places to a level of a happy go lucky red light town and or areas ( as in BKK suck as Soi Cowboy for example) , but because of the GIs in the second world war using Thailand as a brothel ( again, soi cowboy), many areas have been built that way. I also can't argue that parts of Pattaya are a shit hole but only because nobody cares to clean anything, which is common in allot of areas of BKK and Pattaya I noticed. Phuket was pretty clean and I have yet to go to Chaing Mai. Personally, I have met some very good nice owners of bars and restaurants of a few different nationalities and of course Thai owners as well. But I would like to point out that these are all people, that we associate with, who could be really anywhere in Thailand, in any city, not just Pattaya. So i am not sure what the buying into bullshit means because there's nothing to buy into; It is pretty much a what you see is what you get deal there; I don't suffer any delusions about what's what or who is who, and I think most people wouldn't after being there more than once. You must have had a pretty terrible time there and met some shitty people?

You are severely caught up in the facade of Pattaya. It is the shithole of Thailand. Countless foreigners go there and get suckered into the same shit. All/many of the bar girls and tgirls are very poor and uneducated. They all come from the North east in Isan, as I’m sure you’re aware. They don’t give a shit about you me, or any other western man. There’s lots and lots of well educated tgirls and women that aren’t after your money, if you ventured outside of those sex tourist areas.

While it may be true that many foreign man get sucked into the fantasy of Pattaya, that statement could be for anywhere...its not mutually exclusive. And usually it happens the first trip...
