Good post Priscilla. You should never get surgery you don't want to have, especially something as big as SRS. Why give up being able to pee standing whenever you want? Lol.

A lesbian who dresses this way are still just that, lesbians. They are just falling into a more masculine roll in the community and personal lives. Cross dressing men don't look that way all the time, and they do it for a different reason other then that's how they dress everyday. I've never met a butch lesbian that got arroused by putting on a dress shirt, and shaving her head short. I've met many cross dressing men who got arroused by putting on a pair of womans panties though.
I don't belive every single thing in the DSM-IV was simply pulled out of some old mans ass. Some is based in fact from years of research, and others are just things they can't explain anybetter. Transsexuality isn't just some personality quirk. It's a lot easier to be an effeminate dude, then take pills the rest of your life that weaken you, can make you infertile, mean you may never get a job(or lose your job if the boss finds out), and be stigmatised by society in general.
Because there is a political movement attached to certain forms of female masculinities (mostly within 2nd-wave feminism) there are different understandings of what being a transman/drag king/butch dyke really means, and major implications for those who may first identify as butch dykes, then ultimately transition from female to male. Many of them have told me that they lost their partners, friends and social circles when they transition; they're seen as "going over to the dark side" or "collaborating with the enemy." To some feminists, a woman becoming a man is the absolute worst thing someone can do.
There have been several advocates for inclusion of XX transvestites, including Lou (nee Sheila) Sullivan, one of the first female transvestites who openly discussed the erotic potential of male clothes. Sheila eventually transitioned to Lou, and was a major advocate for gay-identified trans men who contracted HIV.
Part of the difference lies in social acceptance - part of the reason that transvestites eroticize women's clothes, and eventually fetishize them, is because it's unacceptable for a man to wear women's clothes. Since there's no real stigma about a woman wearing men's clothes, that "rush" of doing something forbidden doesn't really factor in; fetishes are, by definition, things that fall outside the realm of "normal sexual behaviour" (whatever the hell that means!) which leads to their obsessive nature.
Nothing is sweeter than the forbidden fruit; eat it every day, and it quickly loses its flavour.
Going back to my original point, I find it so fascinating to look at the different divisions in the (so-called) trans community, and see where all the different lines are drawn in the sand - in fact, I've been working on a new article called "Border Wars" focusing on that very subject. Look for it later this month.

What my post was meant to convey was that there is a difference between a butch dyke and a transman. One is a man, the other is a woman.
You are definitly right about Transmen having many problems in the lesbian community, and with the subject of feminism in general.

To all the people who didn't like it, I said:
"Fuck you"
Who's morals are more truthful? Mine; to carryout the way I feel, or "you" to follow the mindless social stigma we are all "supposed" to conform to?
I saw who were my true friends.
As my Portuguese friend says (say out loud with an accent): "If you don't like it, I say Fuck you. Now fuck off. You are a waste of time that is mine. Fuck you. And Fuck you too."

Yes, I have to say that the F*** you post above is not even funny. If we are to win over our adversaries, as well as our culture and society, we need to educate and advocate. Yes, we do need to speak up and be proud of who we are and not let people get away with marginalizing us or discriminating against us, and we also can be "nice" while doing it.
Acting out in anger or in "name-calling" just gives others an excuse to judge us.
If one is starting out on the "path" to be a T-girl, it would be good if right away one could get over the shame and fear of what the future holds, and be proud of being different and be proud of having the courage to make your body like your spirit.

Unfortunately most people wont stand their grounds. Lemmings in the line that is society.
When I have something to say to an adversary I never swear, raise my voice or, throw out childish insults. A calm person with a firm but feminine tone along with key eye contact will intimidate most people, enough to get them to listen and maybe open their minds...
So I say "Fuck You" figuratively not literally.
