Just a thought....how long have the girls been using this strip? It is at least for the 15 years or so since I first became 'aware' of trannies. Now, how long have the anti hooker protesters been living there? Did they buy reasonably priced houses [ I know that is an oxymoron in Toronto ] in a shitty neighbourhood with the presumption that they can improve their lot, park their BMW's on the street, kick out the locals and put up a Starbucks on the corner?
Well if that is the case FUCK OFF and live with it you greedy self centered middle class wankers. Their is more to a city than your investment and profit.you're only as sick as your secrets.

Shit I was kind of grumpy when I wrote that this morning, my apologies to any BMW owning, middle class wankers .
What I meant to say was if you don't like the smell of fish, don't move into a Portuguese neighbourhood and expect them to close down their fish markets.you're only as sick as your secrets.

Another scenario:
...the prostitute is the BMW owning middle class wanker and the resident is a lower middleclass family of five with a 1978 Dodge Aspen station wagon and moves into the area because this is all they can afford...for their property tax dollars do they deserve less than any other neighbourhood because they are less well off? Regardless of the residences' means, they are entitled to the same benefits of ownership that all others recieve...and the prostitute is not paying their fare share so that they can buy another BMW.
...and Craigyb, yes, there is weed in Manitoba...or so I have heard.

Well it seems that people feel it is an attack against transgenders but I do not think that. I am in favour of tgirl escorts in almost everyway but I cannot really support this.
True the physical violence is not right but that is not really the issue here.
Plain and simple the tgirls have no right to do business at that location.
They have no business license, ownership of land and they do not pay income tax or business tax.
On the other hand, the residents own property and pay property tax, school tax, and most likely income tax. They are not conducting business in the neighbourhood and expect it to be residential.
I think the residents are right in every way on this one other than any violence they have inflicted on others.
The argument that they "have" to work at that location is laughable.

I am surprised at the lack of support by the forum members for our discount bargain bin at Maitland /Homewood, even the local straight press [ the sex columnist in Eye magazine] was more supportive. She devoted her entire column to the issue last week and made a good case for the girls. It is worth a read if you can find a copy.
The solution to the problem offered up by forum members of
shovelling them to off to desolate areas of the city to ply their trade puts more danger into the lives of already vulnerable girls.you're only as sick as your secrets.

Do you have any suggestion at all?
I'm willing to support myself but do not know how..

I think the members here (well myself anyway) are empathising with the residents as the injured party. A solution may include a "redlight" district with monitoring and safe houses away from residences. I'm not sure there is the political will there to make this happen though. Although this issue has complex societal ramifications, and the safety of the sex workers is important, simply letting them perform this work in a residential neighbourhood is untenable and will lead to these unneccessary confrontations.
Perhaps those who support this activity will invite the displaced sex workers to their neighbourhoods. That may work as well.
