Song of the week: Sleater Kinney - You're No Rock N Roll Fun Formed in Olympia, WA, USA. Sleater Kinney is a female trio who have had much critically acclaimed success in independent/college radio. Their album "All Hands on the Bad One" finally brought them into the limelight of the pop scene if for just a brief moment. This song admittedly is their "bashing" as it were of the prefabricated major label male bands. That's what I was told years ago when it was released. Frankly I don't get that message in the lyrics. Oh well. Still like the tune

Mad Max:Beyond Thunderdome The latest in the Road Warrior series and although it was not widely liked I enjoyed it as it was more story telling than it was mindless vengeful violence. It really isn't all that bad considering it couldve been a carbon copy of the previous releases in the series.

Bonus beauty Sheila Ferraz and Jeopardy question of the week

So here it is. Spark 2011. Notice the E -zine in the title? Thats short in internet terms of "electronic magazine" or sometimes as "online magazine" I figure why not try and take a stab at doing a mag. I mean. over the past few months I thought of many more ideas to add to this project. There is some familiarity to that of last year but I have made a few adjustments as well so as to make it easier for em to post as also add perks to this.

    Things that were removed:
    • no more song quotes under the ladies picture
    • no more brief descriptions of the lady
    • no more music or film reviews
    • no more pics displaying the month

    Things that are new:
    • there will be a video for song of the week as opposed to a cd recommendation also there will be a video of a movie trailer of a film I suggest to watch. I feel its better to get a visual of something instead of just writing about it however ...... if i see in the coming weeks that the videos get removed from YouTube and become unwatchable I will resort back to photos.
    • the bonus beauty, every week I'll choose a girl not from Canada. Try and show whats outside of the Great White North
    • the Jeopardy question, magazines have crosswords, this has Jeopardy
    • descriptive words will be placed under the ladies pic as taken from their own pages as this is how I feel best represents them in the event they have no description I will say something accordingly
    • updates will be every Saturday all things considered.
    • ratings for the song and film, I'm going to periodically talk to guys and girls here for their take on my suggestions. I dont expect everyone to like what i do thus I'm going to try and get opinions.

    Things that will stay:
    • the woman of the week
    • the woman of the month
    • the redux
    • name and location of the girl

I always welcome feedback and contributions and will thank everyone in doing so. Let's make 2011 the best year we can.

    Cheers!

    What is "The Departed"?

I assume you will post the correct answer at a later date?

    Looks good Rants!

It's an undercover cop flick kinda like "Donnie Brasco" but it's more about a guy discovering a bunch of dirty cops on mob payroll. It's pretty good (assuming I'm remembering the right movie...)

        Hehehehe.

I think u misunderstood. Rants says it's like Jeopardy, so I answered it in the form of a question.

Song of the week: Fantastic Plastic Machine - Take Me To the Disco Fantastic Plastic Machine is not a what but rather a who. A Japanese composer who likes to mingle old lounge vibes with modern pop sounds. This song doesn't necessarily do that but it's still fun enough.

Movie: Clerks "What do you mean there's no ice? You mean I gotta drink this coffee hot?!"" LOL What can I say. Truly it was either make it or break it for Kevin Smith's first production. He maxed out all his credit cards and had a budget of just 27,000$ to make this film. After its release it made 15 times the budget in profit and thus began a successful line of comedies.

Bonus beauty Yvonne and Jeopardy question of the week

Answer to last week's Jeopardy question : What is The Departed?

Week 2 and things are slowly coming along. Not much to report this week except that I have spoken to a few people and will get the ideas I proposed put in motion soon. I'm gonna see if people want to write blogs/editorials or showcase some pics of their own etc etc. I've even thought about doing weather updates but before i consider anything it's all a matter of considering the time needed.

In case you are wondering its just pure coincidence the videos are black and white. Also, I am going to see about displaying songs and films from every era and genre possible. I do not want a one dimensional look at the arts. I thought about staying current but no, theres too much out there to be seen and heard that should not be ignored. Some day you may see a 50's sounding country music video and a 40's movie serial ad .....

Ok. On another note. This has been a unique winter. I've heard it resembles winters of 20 years ago. Meaning, this is the winter we should be having. great snowfalls and high snow drifts and bitter temperatures. I hate the winter season with a passion and after last year with it being so light this year is a shock. Yep, once again I'm hearing about accidents on the highways. Sure I can talk and point fingers and say dont do this and dont do that and what not but really....if the damned road is frozen with ice it doesn't matter if you have snow tires or are in a 16 wheel truck. If you speed you WILL slide around. Salt and sand can only do so much. I'll never get the reasoning why people still insist to speed under bad conditions putting their lives and others at risk.Really, how long has it been since the automobile has been invented and yet to this day people still are careless.

Yes madplotter you are right. Every week I will post a clue and will reveal the answer the following week. Thank you madplotter and Raging Bob for your comments. Truly appreciated.

Thats all for now and to those who sent me messages I thank you and will get back to you.

          Cheers.

Song of the week: Chicago - Saturday in the Park Nearly 40 years old and still one of the most recognized songs from th 1970's. The band Chicago had stellar success in the 70's and then kind of went into a hiatus for a while. According to Billboard chart statistics, Chicago is second only to the Beach Boys as the most successful American rock band of all time, in terms of both albums and singles. Judged by album sales, as certified by the R.I.A.A . Don't ask me where the lyrics are. They're not on the video for some reason.

Movie: Semi - Pro Well it's Will Ferrell. This is the only film I have seen of his. The only reason I saw this was for Woody Harrelson who fits very well to counter balance's Will Ferrell's idiotic spoiled brat character. It's not hilarious but it's not a complete bore as there are a variety of jokes that would appeal too just about everyone. "Spumoni!" LOL...LOL

Answer to last week's Jeopardy question : What is Ivory Snow?

Thank you Bawb and madplotter. Yep. You guys got it right. To be quite honest I didn't know a thing about the Marilyn Chambers advertisement and did a little research on it. LOL. Seems like the detergent got more than what they bargained for but in the end it still worked out because they had a spike in sales the following few years....LOL

Sunshine I can not express how very thankful I am for your kind words. If it wasn't for women such as yourself I wouldn't be able to do what I do. If anything it is I and the rest of the gents that should be applauding you and the other fine ladies to make this possible as it is you who we all adore. Regarding your view on my perception of things I do not know what to say about that but again thank you again as its all just something I like to do and I love to think outside of the box

Raging Bob and pornfan83 I appreciate your input thus far and providing everyone more insight on what has been presented to date.

cobbler The Order of Canada? Wow. Well I don't think they have a t girl division just yet and depending on the government in charge there'd probably have to be a great deal of lobbying to have it implemented....lol.... I'm thinking many many years perhaps but I appreciate your vote. Heh heh. If I had the power I'd make an official holiday in Canada. "T Girl Day" Oh yeah don't we still have to get a few girls to consider wearing skimpy tight body suits and wear roller skates.

Not much to say this week. I have been spoiling myself by enjoying my new TV. Yes, after 8 years I finally got a flat screen television. Its 48 inches wide, LCD and got it for a bargain.

On a global scale the US dollar is going to rebound back. Yes. I've over heard that the days of the Canadian dollar being at par with the US is not going to last for long. That's fine I suppose. If they can rebound back from their crisis we will still as a nation be ok. Many people may not know but during the whole collapse of the world banks Canada was affected least. yeah we're in a recession but its something that is more easier to break out from.

Ahhhm. I thought about and I am not going to do weather reports or the like. No way...too hard ...too much info...can't generalise. Step outside and see. Thats the best way to check the weather....LOL.

Soon. I will have some short critques posted by other members regarding films. This goes back to an idea i propsed at the start of this year.

Oh. Next week. First woman of the month for 2011 will be announced. Yes they will have a page and redux

                        Thats it for now

The ever wonderful Sunshine always illuminates us with her gorgeous model like appearance and genial attitude. Not once can I recall her retaliating harshly to anyone and add to that how she. I know Sunshine and of her aspirations but will leave it to her to decide to provide a little more of her personality if she wishes, her likes her dislikes as it were. One thing is for certain and that is she can definitely take care of herself, has great respect, reliance and looks out for others close to her and that everyone is indeed beautiful.

Her "REDUX" will be up in the days to come.
