Asia. The demure debutante. So polite , gentle and unselfish. One of the busiest people I know. Oh yes, undoubtedly attractive with a sharp mind. We've talked and she is always keen in knowing that everything is ok with those she speaks with and will surprise you by just giving you a warm hello and well wishes when you don't expect it. Thats the sound of someone who looks out and thinks about others. That is truly awesome. It's a jovial July!

            Shyla and Chantel.

My friends and I all agreed that both of the replies you've given are very close but not quite what the true answer is. Tell you what though. Keep guessing. Don't limit yourself to just one try.

            That goes for everybody else.

                That goes for everybody else.

What are the rings that represent the five continents involved in the Olympics and were designed in 1913, adopted in 1914 and debuted at the Games?

Since we are not limited to one answer

What are the rings that represent five regions that participated at Antwerp, 1920?

                • The answer

                  Chantel.

                  Congrats!

Basically I was just looking for this: What is Olympism?

                  Olympism
is a philosophy of life, exalting and combing in a balanced whole the qualities of body, will and mind. Blending sport with culture and education, Olympism seeks to create a way of life based on the joy found in effort, the educational value of good example and respect for universal fundamental ethical principles The goal is to contribute to building a peaceful and better world by educating through sport practiced without discrimination of any kind and in the Olympic spirit, which requires mutual understanding with a spirit of friendship, unity, solidarity and fair play among all people and their nations.

So you see Shyla and Chantel both of you were partly right the first time around but as Chantel mentioned the word Olympism the second time around she gets the points.

The final issue remains: Chantel - double or nothing

Song of the week: TLC - Waterfalls. Light horns and guitar with neo funk blended in with fantastic lyrics made this an instant radio classic. This song is their signature. Ask anyone who listens to r and b/rap and as soon as you say TLC they talk about this tune. the one thing that puzzles me to this day though is the vocals. One sounds a little low on pitch the other too nasally while the other isalmost like its not signing but rather reciting the tune and yet meshed together it sounds wonderful. Its a sound that technically should not work but it does. Ah well. This was the pinnacle of their success until a tragic accident claimed the life of one of the groups members. Shame too because they could've had a wonderful legacy.

Movie: Thor Upon first seeing the trailer I immediately thought "Here we go. Yet another movie based on a comic book." It seems that this past decade every bloody comic book hero is having a film made. I really don't know why the sudden surge but my guess is to boost sales of the books. Quite frankly not all comic book heroes should have a film. Some stories aren't interesting enough so when watching Thor I was cynical. A few minutes in watching however I was thinking to myself. "Hey this isn't bad at all." First of all its directed by Kenneth Branagh (known for Shakespearean works), second it's somewhat serious and dark almost like that of the Batman franchise and lastly it doesn't over sell or make anyone look dorky. It's a polished effort. Basically the god of thunder is banished to Earth due to being arrogant and must prove himself. Simple enough but add some very nice visuals, a well rounded cast and a few unexpected turns and you have a surprise hit. Will this change my views on other comic book films? Hardly but if other flicks out there were to try and put in an effort to be serious to the origin then maybe the stuff out there wouldn't be so bad.

Special commendation to Shyla Wild I'll get in touch with the winners soon about the plan for August.

The summer is just about over. Its been ridiculously hot and sticky pretty much everywhere along the east coast of North America. Some days were just unbearable. In fact some retailer in my vicinity were sold out of all their fans. Yes, fans. Not air conditioners. Personally I'd take AC over a fan anyday but I guess you factor in cost and energy use and then a fan aint so bad. I dare not say the "w" word but I am thinking what will it be like when that white stuff begins to fall? Is it gonna be stupidly cold or will it be a mild season later on. me I'd rather we get no snow ....ever. Hate the stuff.

The NFL season is starting. To me thats a big thing. I've always loved NFL action and despise CFL. Don't know why, just always have. Perhaps its because there are more upsets in the NFL than the CFl and the greater range of teams, again I can't define it. Oh yeah and right around the corner it'll be the hockey season. Sports, music, work, sex and going to the occasional national art galleries in and around Toronto, Montreal and Ottawa - typical alpha male stuff.....LOL.

My apologies to all but I keep forgetting to introduce the ICE BREAKERS idea. I did get a few people to contribute to it its just i keep forgetting to post the thing up. With a few extra days off this week I may finally get around to it.

                        Thats all for now.

                        Cheers

I was also sick of the super heroes movies, but with The Avengers coming out next year Thor and Captain American movies were released for more background then anything else.

Yes I know about The Avengers being released. Can't say I am looking forward to it. As it is though Thor is a decent film. If people know a little or a lot about the character they will be entertained. So even if this is supposed to be a tie in to another project it can still stand alone apart from the bigger picture and if done right could lead to a successful franchise that could rival that of Batman, we'll just have to wait for 2013 to dictate that when Thor 2 comes out.

This is my take on some of the super hero films from 2000 to the present

2002 Blade II - original was barely watchable the sequels stunk
2002 Spider-Man only liked it because of director Sam Raimi
2003 Daredevil heard it stunk looks like its bad never saw it and dont want to. Prime example of that this shouldnt have been made into a movie
2003 X2: X-Men United - loved it. Still my fave of all X Men films
2003 Hulk - never saw it don't want to heard it was bad
2003 The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen - baaaaaaaaad very baaaaad
2004 Hellboy - good, didn't know anything about the character, was pleased with it
2004 The Punisher - never saw it don't want to heard it was bad
2004 Spider-Man 2 - saw 30 minutes of it and never finished seeing it, hated it
2004 Catwoman - never saw it don't want to heard it was bad This shouldnt have been made into a movie. Critics hated it
                            2004 Blade: Trinity - terrible
2005 Elektra - never saw it don't want to heard it was bad
                            2005 Batman Begins - fantastic
2005 Fantastic Four - never saw it don't want to heard it was bad. Looks way to over produced
2006 X-Men: The Last Stand - a big disappointment. Too much going on . Badly paced
2006 Superman Returns - some hated it I loved it. It was a different Superman for a new generation. i thought Brandon Routh was faithful to the role.
2007 Ghost Rider - Arguably one of the worst super hero films of the past decade. Never saw it mostly because I hate the character and Nicholas Cage
                            2007 Spider-Man 3 - didn't see it. Disappointed from number 2
2007 Fantastic Four: didn't see it. Knew it stunk from the trailers. Bad cast
2008 Iron Man - Never cared for the comic book hero but loved the film. Loved the cockiness of Robert Downey jr. believable in every way
2008 The Incredible Hulk- didnt see it dont want too heard it was worse than the first
2008 Hellboy II: The Golden Army - debating if I want to see it
2008 The Dark Knight - I dont know what it is about Batman but the franchise always seems to put out quality stuff more so than not. Guess its because Batman is the most human of characters.
2008 Punisher: War Zone- dont want to see it mostly because I hear there really is no story....just violence and thats it.
2009 Watchmen - was ok, pretty shocking still I liked how it was more geared towards adult audiences.
2009 X-Men Origins: Wolverine- debating if I want to see it
2010 Kick-Ass - saw it, was indifferent to it.
2010 Iron Man 2 - loved it as much as the first.
2011 The Green Hornet - debating if I want to see it.
2011 Thor - liked it very much
2011 X-Men: First Class - don't want to see it, heard by many it was just ok. Seems like its milking the franchise to death.
2011 Green Lantern - not interesting enough of a character, heard the lead actor was horrible
2011 Captain America: The First Avenger - on the fence with this. Iron Man and thor were great so if this is a tie in to the others and if i hear good things about it I may see it.

                              My Turn

                              2002 Blade II - Horrible
                              2002 Spider-Man - Like Spidey - I rank this as ok
                              2003 Daredevil - Meh
                              2003 X2: X-Men United - Excellent
2003 Hulk - I wanted my money back
2003 The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen - I knew to avoid this
2004 Hellboy - good, didn't know anything about the character, was pleased with it - Same way I feel
                              2004 The Punisher - I liked this...it wasn't bad at all
                              2004 Spider-Man 2 - Hard to watch
2004 Catwoman - another Meh Film
                              2004 Blade: Trinity - terrible - agreed
2005 Elektra - Never saw it, I figured DD sucked so this didn't even get a chance
                              2005 Batman Begins - Amazing
                              2005 Fantastic Four - Boring
2006 X-Men: The Last Stand - Too much action
2006 Superman Returns - I had problem getting into it.
2007 Ghost Rider - How to destory a great character
2007 Spider-Man 3 - How to ruin Venom. Also there is a dancing scene that is just embarrassing to watch.
2007 Fantastic Four 2: My favourate character is in this movie, The Surfer. Unfortunately all his power cannot save this film.
2008 Iron Man - Marvel's version of Batman. Probably the only movie that comes close to Batman.
2008 The Incredible Hulk- Ed Norton is not bad is this film.
2008 Hellboy II: The Golden Army - Saw clips of this, not impressed
2008 The Dark Knight - The standard for Superhero movies. Batman is not only one of the deepest characters, but also has some of the greatest villian gallery.
2008 Punisher: War Zone- they made another?
2009 Watchmen - I watched this. And still don't know if I like it or not.
2009 X-Men Origins: Wolverine- Liked this
                              2010 Kick-Ass - No idea
2010 Iron Man 2 - loved it as much as the first. - samehere, two words - Suitcase Armor
2011 The Green Hornet - No desire to see this
2011 Thor - I found this movie very slow.
2011 X-Men: First Class - I liked this. I only thought it was a bit of a cash in, but it surprised me.
2011 Green Lantern - So much poteniel as the Latern is one of the most power characters ever. Ryan Renolds was good, but the story sucked.
2011 Captain America: The First Avenger - Ok, I saw this recently and it's not bad, but it's not really good either. But if you liked Thor and Ironman then it's worth the watch.

What I always liked is that one actor is more or less assigned to one character. This let Hollywood create crossovers very similar to Marvel Comics. For example, Fury has already been seen in a few movies. Tony Stark makes a cameo in the Hulk hinting at the Avengers.

I also read that the Avengers will be a two part movie.

Oh, regarding Blade the original. Even though Snipes is a horrible actor, remember that movie was one of the first techno fight choreographed movies ever. Even before the Matrix.
