i have pepper spray. or ill get a weapon and use it towards them if someone attempts to do that i grab for it in the room and i go and get my money if its a big ammount if it's a small ammount then i just let them be and call someone in the near future and to get my money back promptly.

it all depends on the situation at hand.

keep your head up. hopefully you didn't get hurt.

Using a weapon on an unarmed person will get you charged with assault. Self-defense is not valid as you just escalated the situation. Not only that, but as you are not trained to use a weapon, there is a very high chance the weapon will be used against you.

In Canada all products with a label containing the words pepper spray, mace, etc., or otherwise originally produced for use on humans are classified as a prohibited weapon. Only law enforcement officers may legally carry or possess pepper spray. Any similar canister with the labels reading "dog spray" and/or "bear spray" is regulated under the Pest Control Products Act - while legal to be carried by anyone, it is against the law if its use causes 'a risk of imminent death or serious bodily harm to another person' or harming the environment and carries a penalty up to a fine of $500,000 and jail time of maximum 3 years.

So if you attack an unarmed person with pepper spray, you will be charged with assault with a deadly weapon. Your client will by charged with attempted robbery (same as robbery). Let's assume this is a first offense. He will get a max of 2 years. You will get a max of 3 years. Which is worse in the eyes of the Law?

Prostitution is legal in Ontario....take Crag's advice: Call the Cops.

the reason people rob escorts is because most of the time they don't call the cops.

You are doing your fellow escorts better by calling the police than trying to blacklist the guy among yourselves.

He only need change his appearance a bit and is unrecognizable.
phone numbers and such can be changed in minutes.

Ottawa police operate a bad date line. Even if you think that nothing will come of it, it is worth reporting since all police agencies keep statistics on these events in order to guide policy and allocate resources.

                        ---

                        http://www.ottawapolice.ca/en/servingottawa/sectionsandunits/saca/baddateline.aspx

                        Bad Date Line

                        Call 1-800-303-5407 - anonymously.

Working in the sex trade can make you a vulnerable target, and predators count on the fact that you may not report crimes against you. We need your help to identify and track serial and predatory offenders. The anonymous reporting system is for individuals victimized while engaging in the sex trade.

By calling the toll free number (1-800-303-5407), you will be prompted to leave a message regarding the details of your assault along with as much of an offender description as possible.

Information gathered could be the missing link needed in identifying a serial predator. The anonymous and free Bad Date Line gives you an opportunity to report sexual and physical assault without revealing your identity.

The Ottawa Police Service understands the desire of victims to remain anonymous and supports the Bad Date Line in an effort to identify potential serial offenders preying upon victims who they believe will not report the attack to police. The Bad Date Line does not subscribe to caller ID and no attempts will be made to identify callers. It is preferred that victims contact police directly to report an assault so that a proper investigation can be conducted and ensure a predator is removed from the street. Ottawa Police treat all victims fairly and equitably.

If you wish to speak with an officer regarding an assault or receive more information regarding the investigation process, you may contact the Sexual Assault Unit directly at 613-236-1222, ext. 5944.

Call the police and file a report..

Hopefully there's a security cam where ever you are staying..

they can get his photo from it..

You should always report this stuff right away and have them charged with aggravated assault, sexual assault and robbery..

Personally I'd boot fuck the asshole and make sure he's laying on the floor bleeding and in need of an ambulance..

                          Then I'd call the cops..

I always stay in hotels where they have security cameras when possible..

                          I've never been robbed..

I only got badly assaulted and raped once..

                              Awesome post.

Pepper spray and bear spray are basically the same product. The size of the canister and label are the big differences. Civilians are not even allowed to own pepper spray. However bear spray (the most common label) can be found in pretty much any outdoor store, can be bought without any special licencing/credentials, and you can even carry it on your hip hooked to a belt. They are both OC sprays. There is a lot of red tape in using it. Pretty much the only circumstance where you'll have the law on your side, by using it, is when you are in fear for your life.

Also consider many times when trained police officers use OC spray they require medical attention afterwards. OC spray is very light and stays in the air for long periods of time, and bounces off some clothing materials, increasing the risk that you will contaminate yourself. There is a reason a lot of cops try to avoid using the stuff. It's nasty and doesn't discriminate from the assailant and the victim.

As far as the legalities go, consider what evidence will hold up in court. If you pepper spray somebody, there is plenty of physical evidence against you. If you claim he was trying to rob you, what evidence do you have of that? He can always claim that it was a simple misunderstanding and you have no way of proving otherwise. He will get off because of reasonable doubt, and you will be charged with assault. Also consider the fact that he could turn around and say you tried to rob him. You had the weapon, there is cash, and there is no evidence that you needed to protect yourself. Remember our laws enable us to protect our bodies, not our possessions. You could end up being charged with armed robbery. One last thing, when you state "what I would do" on the internet that is planning an attack and in court that is premeditation which makes what you did first degree assault.

A few years ago, in the US, there was a guy who had a burglar break into his home. The guy saw what he believed to be a weapon, shot and killed the assailant, who turned out to be holding a wallet. It was later discovered that the homeowner had put his home defense plan on the internet and he was later charged with first degree murder. And that is in the US where they have "Castle Doctrine" which allows you to defend your home. We don't have anywhere close to the freedoms Americans do.

This is what you could be looking at:
Assault with a weapon... maximum 10 years
Unlawfull causing bodily harm... maximum 10 years
Armed robbery with prohibited weapon... maximum 5 years for first offense
                              Possession of a prohibited weapon

How do you know your client isn't a lawyer who will pursue this exact thing should something happen? As was mentioned, call the police. Document the encounter. Perhaps even set up a nanny camera. Save text messages because those are evidence. Be smart.
