I think this is why political threads should be banned LOL. People will never agree so why bother. Look, do I think the situation in Russia is ideal as far as being gay is concerned? Absolutely not. But I do think that there is this undercurrent of misguided attention paid to a country where homosexuality isn't illegal and isn't punishable by law. There culture is different over there but you won't get beheaded or thrown in jail by the Government for being gay unless you are protesting in the streets, throwing a parade or handing out pamphlets. There's a long lists of countries on that list I provided where if you live a gay lifestyle you go to jail or get put to death...period. Why is there so much attention being paid to Russia when other countries are dong far worse things to people for simply living their lives? It's not illegal to be gay in Russia but everyone is slamming them for their anti-gay laws? Nobody seems to want to answer that question, why they are being singled out. I believe that's a very important question.

And when I said to you to give your head a shake, I mean that in a way that people should not only listen to one side or source for information and news. News is used for propaganda in all parts of the world, yes even in North America. The major news corporations tow the Government line. CNN, CTV, CBC, they are all feeding everyone the same shit.

In Russia more than 1 person together can be considered a gathering and you can be arrested for an illegal gathering. Unless you are promoting The government and the authorities.

However, I'm sure their current legislation against public promoting (parades, protests) can be interpreted to deny legal and civil rights to the gay/trans community for even being suspected of being gay or trans. Crimea doesn't want to be part of Ukraine. The people voted on it. I really can't see why so many people have a problem with that. And please, enough with comparing Putin with Hitler, there hasn't been a shot fired in Crimea since this all began. If it was Hitler's henchmen in Crimea anyone who didn't capitulate would have been hung...shot...or both, no questions asked. The point of the post was how should the West respond to the current situation? Do nothing it's none of our business? Or what they are doing scolding Russia and threatening sanctions. Russia entered the G8 with their own agenda all long. The remaining countries gave them the benefit of doubt and once accepted Russia almost immediately reared it's ugly head. Communism is alive and well, it hasn't fallen at all or gone anywhere. The tactic of making others "believe" it has fallen worked. It's communist tactics and propaganda same as the good ole days! They give the people enough to think they're happy and WHALA! SHIT STORM! It was very nieve of the G7 to believe otherwise...now look what we've got! One can clearly see the propaganda and which way each of the media streams are biased to..

The USA portrays everything as AOK in Isreal while Aljazeera shows the unfair brutality of the Israeli army and politicians..

Aljazeera has also been showing the Real side of the story in Crimea lately.. they wanted to join Russia it's very clear..

Maybe Obama was right and Western European Nations need to spend more on military..

Germany however is not going to impose trade sanctions on Russia as it's their biggest trading partner and the only thing holding up the backbone of Germany and Europe..
