    Getting Prepared?

I noticed that on Shemale Canada, there is no long an "Escorts" button ... it now reads "Shemales".

Perhaps this a preparation for the new law? Just curious...

I asked a cop today about that law...his answer "What?". They obviously didn't get the memo.
I am a licensed escort in Calgary. The new law HAS taken effect Dec 6, 2014, whatever some policeman told you. There have already been many significant changes and more are coming. The Sun newspaper no longer runs escort ads. Many websites have stopped running ads or will stop running ads as they are pressured by the government. I'm not sure how it is in other parts of Canada but Eros has a partial block in place. I'm sure some sites will continue to operate, either without change or under some modified format. The City is already preparing to take action on the new law. I can't get any precise information yet.

The new bill shifts the focus away from the girls and puts it squarely on the clients and advertisers. However, certain restrictions still apply - no discussions in public, no working out of a hotel, etc.

I'm not sure what I'm going to do but I'm considering traveling. This is a terrible law and I hope it goes to court sooner rather than later.

Men, if you stick with known girls there is nothing to be worried about.

The cops will be nailing the street scene. (low hanging fruit)

IF they are going to run stings, they will put ads on craigs, backpages, erslist, places like that...... you will never have a problem if you go for girls with a reputation

and, they will never go after TS scene because it is too small

we are all good if we stick with the lovely women we all know about here.

          City Of Vancouver..

Here's a link to the official position of the city of Vancouver..

          Vancouver council is against Bill c-36 quoting;
          The passing of Bill C-36:
          • Undermines the health and safety of sex workers
          • Increases social exclusion and pushes sex workers to work in more isolated areas

The article on the city website is here..

          http://vancouver.ca/news-calendar/ci...bill-c-36.aspx

Additionally the link to the letter Vancouver sent to Ottawa which poses opposition to the bill asking that it be refereed to the Supreme Court..

          http://vancouver.ca/files/cov/City-o...ersons-act.pdf

C36 is nothing more than the Christian Conservative Party's (CCP) last gasp at bible thumping hypocrisy before they loose power..

The Vancouver Police Department has the same stance on this matter and they are not going to enforce the unconstitutional laws..

Not quite same old same old but

I see few practical changes for you and I as clients of TS girls. The local police enforcement of the Criminal Code of Canada will probably be little different than we already know it. Enforcement of the Criminal Code’s prostitution laws in times past was almost always initiated by local police and then, most often, in response to public complaints, the majority of which being generally of the “nuisance“ variety.

What I do foresee as the being most problematic issue for us will be the new prohibition against advertising.

Previously, what happened with respect to policing was very dependant upon the mores of the individual community and, as we see from time to time, some localities (particularly in the Western provinces) because of their antagonistic approach to activities related to prostitution, became quite troublesome to both providers and clients alike while other cities were more or less open to it e.g. Toronto, which, while seemingly oblivious to CCofCanada regulations, saw it‘s many brothels advertise openly, yet street level operations and body-rubs were occasionally subjected to attention. Many, if not most, city police seem to employ the street sting as a cheap and effective way of impressing the public that they are doing their job and acting to keep the city “clean“.

Country wide, our police departments are wholly dependant for financial support upon the city fathers of their local communities and most have found that the provided funding was not sufficient to support the many undertakings expected of them. Enforcement of some of the new regulations in C-36 will become very onerous and expensive, demanding even more of those meager funds! So, just because there is a new version of the law with respect to prostitution I find it difficult to believe that the local gendarmerie will feel they are required to, or even able to, react any more diligently now, than they have been in years past. Little will change for most TGF members!

As vancouverman and others have earlier suggested, be careful who you contact but do continue to enjoy yourselves!

I feel sad for clients whose sincerely wants to have fun only , there are a lot of new girls are coming and some real, some using fake photos, I know some people personally I do not talk to them today because they are not honest people and they do fraud by using someone else photos or not even close to their photos if the client doesn't stay or leave the money those liars can be dangerous -- this will give more power to those people - from now on clients has to research more than before they visit any girl

                Bill C-36

Here is a good synopsis. Working girls need to know that anywhere children may be present, they can be charged for communication-sounds to me like there will be a crackdown on what is already a minimized street scene, thus targeting the most vulnerable working girls. This law is designed to appeal to Harper's base of Social Conservatives and possibly gain some support from Liberal supporters who are social conservatives (read Catholics). http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/...ticle19610318/

Tomorrow is Monday morning. If backpage escorts and Eros are still running in Canada at the end of the week, assume the status quo.

Backpage meets the requirements for advertising.. You can't show nudity, can't use code words, can't offer sex for money.. Selling sex is illegal in most of the USA and you don't see them shutting it down.. It's not going to happen here..

It's not rocket science.. it's common decency really..

The newspapers here in Vancouver are not changing anything.. they already had the same rules in place for ads as well..

Besides.. no one has ever paid any of us for sex.. they just make a donation to spend time with us..

There has been so much written about this new law that I guess I am having trouble knowing what to believe. If you are contact an unknown girl that advertises on BP and you discuss $$ for services, I could see how you could get in trouble because it could be LE posing as a girl. However if you are contacting one of the well known girls and going to see her at a hotel I am not really seeing how things change from a week ago. You know the gril is legit, and you may already know what the gift would be.

You are right that selling sex is illegal in the USA, BUT ADVERTISING is illegal in Canada. You cannot compare our laws with theirs as they are very very different. It is not illegal for us to sell sex. It is illegal for us to advertise.

It is perfectly legal for us to advertise for our "own" sexual services. What is illegal is for others to advertise our sexual services.

Plus i do not know if backpages would fall into the Canadian laws as they are based out of the united kingdom....eros have been around for 17 years....and if let's say those do disappear, then trust me shemale Canada is gone also as they are way looser in what is written in the adverts.

Here's the law on advertising from c-36.. It's very basic and only means you can't offer sexual services in your ad..
286.4 Everyone who knowingly advertises an offer to provide sexual services for consideration is guilty of
                              (a) an indictable offence and liable to imprisonment for a term of not more than five years; or
                              (b) an offence punishable on summary conviction and liable to imprisonment for a term of not more than 18 months.

For the most part this changes very little.. Gone tho are the girls with menus that have price lists.. Gone are ads that offer BBBJ, greek, etc..

There is no mention of nudity or anything like that in advertising.. Although it's looking to be a rule of decency among some advertising services..

We have to remember that a lot of these changes are half assed and unconstitutional as well..

There is another section exempting those advertising for their "own" sexual services. So the trick was made by incriminating those who place advertisement for sexual services in their papers, websites, etc. But these laws are applicable to websites operating from within Canada. As Tiana said, when a website is operating from outside, I doubt the local government can enforce its own laws easily. For websites operating in Canada currently, most are restricting the content and style, more like time for money type of advertisement.
