I agree with your technique, Mayday. I use a glass dildo that my ex left behind when we divorced to check my plumbing. Works like a charm, is smooth to insert, with a little hand cream lube, and you can definitely tell if there is any residue left inside that needs to be expelled. I find using a douche bulb to be best. Regarding cleaning it, that is what hot water and soap is for or a dishwasher. Been using this approach for quite a few years now and no problems.
