Now Obama was a leap in faith by Americans, he sold us on a bunch of promises. I for one do not know? If he is fit to watch my daughter pet goldfish, let alone run the office of president.

But like many of my fellow Americans, who want our country to be a beacon for the world. We voted him into office, not because of his race. But because we want America to be something special again.

Now I have 2 bi-racial children and work in law enforcement, there always going to be racism, not only in America but in the world. Why? because it's human nature to be afraid of the unknown. Same reason why some people hate TS or gay men or women.

I hate reading how some board member's bash America on this site, it's not like America sits around and bashes Canadians. By the way Canada has it's own problems also. My mother is a proud Canadian citizen, so I know a thing or two about your flaws in goverment.

Lisa great topic and thanks for posting it on the forum!

By the member's how about those Boston Bruins? Bobby Orr must be proud! [smile]

ya they have a great team best start since 1929 when i was a youngster lol but as for barack i dont see him as a democrat nor a republican but more as a savior in a world where everything is going haywire he seems to stay cool under pressure and the U.S. is going to need a steady hand in the next few years.i was so proud of america when cnn projected him as the next president elect i had tears flowing and tingles up and down my body, its a year ill never forget,i couldnt help thinking back to the Kennedy years and Martin Luther Kings i have a dream speach and to watch pure real emotion on blacks, whites and everyother colour hug each other and jump up and down it truley was amazing and that told me that america isnt easy but you really can be anybody you wish cause honestly this story can only happen in the great United States of America.

well that will be too bad for us because unless there are newbie's waiting in the wings then we are stuck with leaders that have less excitement about them than fish out of water.

Personally, I agree that Obama is the right choice to lead America from an optical standpoint. The global image of the US changes even before Obama takes office. McCain had no logical retort to any of Obama`s pre-election arguments and I think people are fundamentally capable of judging for themselves which candidate had the temperament necessary to lead the institution of the presidency. There is very little McCain or any other republican could have done to manage America effectively (i.e. the yield curve is already too steep to accomodate a republican president). The "business" of American government this cycle demands an image more maleable to policies which result in a moderate to significant inversion of the yield curve. Democrats are traditionally best able to perform this role credibly and Obama made the most compelling case period. The real question moving forward is how long before the effective fed funds rate supersedes the overnight london interbank offered rate (LIBOR) and precipitates a renewed flight out of US dollars.

I`m glad I live in Canada
          Happy New Year

Looks like Obama will cruise to another term huh?

There does not seem to be much competition.
What little competition he has is fighting amongst one another.

Obama has no real competition, he could do absolutely nothing and get re-elected easily.
Guatemala, Mexico and other central/south american countries want to end drug prohibition to deal with the ultra violent cartels in their countries but need the US cooperation to prevent sanctions. Obama hinted he'd be down for that during his 2nd term.
