lol someone couldn't play soccer as a kid. you make it sound as if its easy. as for hockey, its a barbaric sport which is why people have concussions everyday. anyone can slap on some skates and start hitting a puck with a stick just as u said anyone can kick a ball around on grass.

thers a reason why soccer is the most watched and played sport in the world, cuz its a simple yet effective game which takes skill to play. and don't forget, the MLS is the fastest growing league in north america today so before you say we live in north america and should not be playing soccer, think again.

I am sure that the people of Brampton and Thunder Bay etc. have a limited
appreciation for the 'beautiful game' but if you spend time in the larger cities during a World Cup or Euro Cup you will see that the religion of Football is supported with an enthusiasm beyond the pedestrian sports of North America. I am sure that if the Maple Leaves ever win more than 3 games in a row [dream on ] their fans will take to the streets with all the gusto that the Portuguese do when Ronaldo farts.
There is no need for a 'laugh track' or an organ [what the fuck is that about] at a Football match, the energy is electrifying from the beginning to the end from the fans themselves , not your Go Leaves Go shite sponsored by the Sun Newspaper
If you look on the BBC Sports website you will find Ice Hockey listed in the "other sports' section after darts and just ahead of netball [whatever the fuck that is] which shows it's status in the Sports World. Yes this is Canada, but fortunately in the 21 st century we are no longer limited in our choice of entertainment to Log Rolling and Curling.
Hey Lisa I'm just pulling your chain, I am sure that you feel for Hockey what I feel for Football [ I HATE the term Soccer, that's what girls in LA play] and I will love it to the end x
Basketball? Nascar? Don't get me started.
dude i waited for your reply all damn night finally i got tired and went to bed lol.i was only tryin to pull your chain silly,i love the fact that you guys are passionate about your sport its awesome, nothin gives me a better high then watching or playing sports ive done it since i was 4 years old and still play a sport well into my 40s wheather its playing golf a couple days a week or teaching kids how to play hockey.sports will always dominate my life and i could talk sports for hours and love every second of it,so keep up the good work and cheers

                          The Final Game

It has been an interesting series of soccer games. Hard to believe the teams of Portugal , Italy, Greece, France, and other former greats will not be represented in Sundays final.

I've personally selected Germany to be Cup winners since the competition commenced. The Spanish team are formidable opponents, but , against Germany their few 'weaknesses' will be exposed.

Whoever captures the coveted Euro Cup , all of the entrants made exceptional efforts and demonstrated unbelievable skills. They are each to be commended for the efforts exhibited.

While I welcome ethnic diversity and welcome multiculturalism, you aren't quite correct with your claims. Canada is still a very white Anglo-Saxon country. In Canada the English still make up the largest group followed by the French, Scottish, Irish and German. This info is from the 2006 Census.

Toronto while being very ethnically diverse still has the majority of its residents with their roots in either England or Ireland. 45.7% of Toronto's population are foreign born. Again this info is from the 2006 census.

The diversity in Toronto is great, it gives us a unique identity so many other cities lack.

contrary topopular beleive tdot isnt the centre of the universe its more of a collection of riff raff gun carrying immegrants.most canadains are white who have settled here for centuries and the true canadians live in small towns and live and breathe hockey because its our culture,as for the rest of the so called canadians we dont go to europe and push hockey so dont come to my country and push soccer, most canadains dont give a rats ass about a minor sport period its hockey or nothin

Lighten Up a wee bit Lisa

No one is claiming racial inequality or discrimination because of race. I claim a certain set of demographics were accurate. Another poster has challenged my figures, absolutely nothing wrong with that.

Canada wide ethnic numbers was never a specific claim of mine. But, if my good friend revisits the Toronto & GtA population I'm certain he will discover my numbers are not that inaccurate.

Multicultural peoples choosing to take up residence in our Toronto specifically, have given the economic boost,
shared the culture of their birth , and accepted the laws rights and freedoms of Canada. They are truly the salt of the earth.

Large urban centres are bound to attract the evil doers. Newly settled or decades of citizenship, there are those within our community who will never adhere to the precepts of law and order. Their ways in life include the commission of any treachery that will reward them with unlawful gain.

Let each of us who believe in the rights of all citizens stand shoulder to shoulder with our police forces and help bring the unruly to swift and proper justice.

I extend my hand of help ,my heart of love, to all who cry out.....please help me, please help me ...... please help me. The colour of your skin ,hair , the slant of your eyes, your attire or head dress does not exempt you from my helping embrace.

                                Happy Canada Day.
