ahhh....Hamilton. The problem with Hamilton is not Toronto, as the city of Toronto can handle another team...It's Buffalo. Most of the crowd that crosses the border from Canada to Buffalo for the game would disappear and so would Buffalo. There is a better chance of a another team in toronto.
So Shyla..........have you made the roster changes?..........what are your thoughts on the Cammalleri trade?......................
So Shyla..........have you made the roster changes?..........what are your thoughts on the Cammalleri trade?......................
Mitsu.
Yes the Roster changes are complete.
As for the Habs and their trades, Gauthier is a real piece of work. He fired Pern 90 mintues before a game, the Coach before morning practice, and trades Cammy before the third period. Some say it was to motivate the team. I am sorry, but the GM's job is to build a team and give the coach the tools to win. The coach and team captain can motivate. These moves were classless, and the timing did not motivate the team but hurt it, but stripping it of an assistant coach before a game, a coach before practice, and a sniper for the 3rd period of a tight game. In reality, there are many other problems on the team. The defense is full of holes, the powerplay is a joke, and the list goes on. It's a strong draft year. Two good young russians (I have a thing for Russian hockey players). The Habs are going nowhere this season. And even if they do, for what? A first or second round defeat...again.
Burke is building his type of team in Toronto. It will be like Boston. Big, strong and skilled. Look at Philly same thing. The model that the Habs use DOES NOT WORK. Buffalo used the small-fast model and when Drury and Briere became free agents they were not resigned. This is not the 80s. The Oilers are not ripping apart everyone with speed and offense. Defensemen in the 80s were skilled puck moving, agile defensemen. Todays defensemen are skilled puck movers, but BIG and agile. Chara, Pronger, Weber, today, Coffey, Bourque and MacInnis in the 80s.
I will tell you what I really think about the trade. Gauthier and Cunneyworth will be gone at the end of the season. Bourque seems more like a Cunneyworth type player then Cammalleri. Cunneyworth wants a team that works hard and battles. He wants power forwards and grinders. But in the end who cares what he wants because I doubt Randy Cunneyworth will be the coach of the Montreal Canadiens next year. So, why does a GM that won't be there next year, trade for a player for a coach that won't be there next year? And if this is a move for the future, Bourque is older then Cammalleri. I believe Sam Pollock said it the best when he said "The team that gets the best player wins the trade." Cammy was the best player in this trade. Calgary won this deal, and they took the Habs to the cleaners. The Montreal team President and Owners need to really get a grip on their management before this turns into Rejean Houle II.

Shyla, while i agree with most of what you said, I think that the Habs got the better of the deal........shaved $3mil from their roster and Bourque is under contract for 4 more years......he's bigger (6'2" vs 5'8")......and a lot meaner.......my only gripe against him is that he doesn't show up for every game.......Cammy, on the other hand, hasn't shown up all season.........I only hope that PG doesn't tear this team apart at the trading deadline......the new GM will have a most difficult time to rebuild.........look for the Habs to play like the Leafs of the past 7 years (no playoff appearances).........

The forwards don't score, the defensemen can't defend. This team will be torn apart. Besides, Jorges, Subban, Pacioretty and Price show me another player that should wear the CH next season.
If the boat don't float, sink it and build new one.

I'd like to see the Habs get rid of those 3 remaining SMURFS........PLEKANAC, GIONTA AND GOMEZ.......Another keeper has got to be Cole.......Emelin adds tuffness to their D that they haven't had in a long time........main problem is their Power Play........worst in the League.......0 for 5 against Ottawa tonite.......Kaberle has got to go too........yes, there's gonna be some changes in Habland........
The only problem with Cole is that he's over 30. Not really a long term guy. I have a funny story about Cole that happened around 2005-2006. I was bartending on Crescent Street and the Habs were playing the 'Canes. Cole and Eric Staal came in after the game and sat at my bar. I always loved Cole, and I was boycotting the Habs due to the Patrick Roy trade. (I was sitting four rows behind Roy that last game he played in Montreal). I told Cole how I loved the way he always ran over the Canadiens. I got his autograph, in it he wrote..."Fuck the Habs, Eric Cole."
Wonder what would happen if I scanned that and put that on the net?

Although that was a long time ago, I'll bet he's thinking those same words now...........And to think that Rene Bourque said how he's always wanted to play for the Habs..........wait till he sees how fucked up they are........

Everyone always says that they have always wanted to play for the Habs, Leafs or any Original Six Team. Wait till the media, fans, stress and pressure gets to them. Hockey is religion in Montreal. The mood of this city revolves around the Canadiens. In Montreal finishing 1st overall is not good enough, making the playoffs is not good enough, winning 3 playoff rounds is not good enough. If there is no cup parade then you failed. Second place is a way to say, "You are the first loser." What do Habs fans expect? A cup, no goals against, a perfect powerplay, a winner of every major player award, and no loses. And they seriously expect this every year. We were spoiled from 1950 - 1980....Life sucks after Pollock. To make matters worse, Irving Grundman messed up Pollock's final gift to the Habs. The Number 1 pick in the 1980 draft. (For the record, if Wayne Gretzky was not brought in by the Oilers he would have been the number 1 pick in this draft as the Canadiens had the choice of the Rockies first pick in either 79 or 80.) So they drafted Wickenheiser with Savard, Larry Murphy, Paul Coffey and Jari Kurri available. WHO THE FUCK WAS IN CHARGE OF SCOUTING?
The player I saw best handle the pressure in Montreal was Kirk Muller. Gave 100% every game.
As for players that could not handle the pressure:
Mark Recchi
Pierre Turgeon
Shane Corson
Eric Desjardins Patrick Roy Mike Ribeiro
John LeClair
Scott Gomez
Mike Cammalleri
Chris Chelios
Rod Langway
All had better stats before and/or after the Habs. I have often wondered way. Coaches and Gm's have changed for the Habs, but yet it seem like players consistently under achieve or perform. System has changed over the years....so the only thing left is the pressure from the Media and Fans.
If I remember correctly, Roy didn't give the one finger salute to the coach nor the GM. He gave it to the Fans that were booing him. Ungrateful fans. Fans that now realize that the last two cups we saw in this city were because of him....and we booed him out of the city.
Shame on us.
As for Cammalleri, I lost complete respect for him. Maybe he forgot that he was part of the problem not the solution and that is the main reason he is no longer part of this hockey club. http://prohockeytalk.nbcsports.com/2012/01/12/cammalleri-blasts-habs-we-play-like-losers/
When the guy that is projected to be your top scorer has 9 goals and is on pace for 18 goals this year, maybe he should take a hard look at himself.
Shame on him.

Reason: Cammalleri is a retard

Shyla, you are true to form......this coming from a Habs fan........but I don't agree that it was totally Roy's doing........Tremblay, Habs coach at the time.......'95, I believe, left him in a game against Detroit for a 10-3 loss.......he totally embarrassed him...........and let's not forget his '93 playoff appearance where he stood tall and won 10 straight overtime playoff wins and went on to win the Stanley Cup and Conn Smythe for the Habs......a quitter?.....no.......a loser?......no....Habs have been awful getting good management since the Pollock days.........got that goof Grundman, a bowling alley manager, Savard, Houle, Gainey and now Gauthier.......let's end this nonsense once and for all and start anew with good strong, SMART, managers and coaches...........

It was not Roy's doing at all. That incident turned me into an ABC. (Anything But the Canadiens) I just wanted to show how even Roy stats greatly increased after the trade. The pressure in Montreal is sick.
Personally, I like to see the Habs hire Roy as GM. And I hope that Roy hires Tremblay as Coach. He's going to fire his first coach at some point, why not someone he hates. Payback is a bitch.
Does it end at completion of the regular season or run until the Stanley Cup?
When is the deadline for trades and free agent signings?
The Pool ends at the end of the season. I have not decided if there will be another pool for the playoffs. The trade deadline is 2 days after the NHL deadline.

The WHA was trying to take on the NHL head to head, so they were throwing money around for a short time back then.
Ala Gretzy and the Howe family.
Wickenheiser was the obvious pick at the time, sure with hindsight you don't take him, but he was the cream of the WHL.
Unfortunately, Denis Savard was the cream of the QMJHL and French Canadian.
Yes too bad the prestige of the WHL and it's star player, was too much to ignore.
Plus the Regina Pats and their proud french tradition.
Nice name for a fucking hockey team, Pats.
Sounds like a bunch of woosies.

You must be joking with your choice of Roy as GM and Tremblay as coach?........
Roy is still only a Junior League owner and coach........no pro experience..........Gotta be someone else..........french speaking, of course........that limits the availability.......now for coach........I've always liked Bob Hartley.......but he's tied up in Europe for a couple of more years........Fuck, it's gonna be hard to pick a good one........coach and GM.......Roumer has it that it could be this guy Brisebois...........not the former Hab..........
